This machine works great. I got one of these the other day from QVC for around $46 shipped. I've made a couple batches of ice cream and I like this ice cream maker alot.

It's very easy and convenient to use, just push a button to start and it stops automatically and beeps when it's done. You can make ice cream whenever you want. You don't have to plan ahead and freeze the bowl for 24 hours before you can make ice cream like you have to do with all other machines at and way above this price range. I was looking at the cheapest Cuisinart for $65 before I saw and decided to buy this one.

I think this machine was normally around $130 at QVC and looks like it's been on a closeout sale for a couple of months.

My opinion as a first timer (this is my first ice cream maker)... For under $50 shipped is an excellent deal and a no brainer to buy. You can wait and the closeout price might get lower but now that it's posted on SD it might sell out before QVC lowers the price again.

Full disclosure FWIW: This is my first ice cream machine and my first time making ice cream. I don't have any experience with any other machines so take my opinion with a grain of salt and as a first timer making ice cream. I also have a habit of researching the hell out of something before I buy it.
From someone who has a $600+ actual compressor machine without a removable bowl (inherited from non slickdealers!) I can tell you a few things...first it's easy enough to wipe out a non removable bowl with a sponge, rinsing a few times in between with hot water then follow up with a 2-3 paper towel wipedown. If there is a greasy feel it is probably just the nature of the plastic (mine is stainless.). I honestly thought it would be a hassle, but it really takes like 2 minutes using a sponge to absorb as it wipes.

Next, buy or Google the Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipe book. All solid and perfect for home machine. And...for some of you, please don't be afraid of raw eggs, its the lecithin in the yolks that allow for the proper emulsion of the fats and solids that gives ice cream that great mouthfeel. Otherwise your desserts kinda feel like the old "ice milk" of the 80s, or a little watery like a frosty. Which is OK really but getting sick from raw eggs is such a low risk these days it's not worth the worry, tho I know some people just won't like the idea. But it's how ice cream has been made since it was invented... anything else is engineering.

Next, unless you have other reasons, always always put 2 TBS of vodka (flavored OK) in your mixture. This will stop it from freezing brick hard and remain scoopable in a standard house freezer. All ice cream rates a 5 min rest on counter before scooping but because not as much air is incorporated at home, homemade can become 20-30 wait-to-scoop (delicious) bricks. If you have no reason to exclude it, the vodka is your friend.

All recipes vodka or not, will be like soft serve when done in the machine, scoop it out into freezer containers and freeze it 3+ hours/overnight for it to reach standard storebought hard ice cream texture.

Lastly if you want a "chip" effect ie mint choc chip... don't just throw choc chips in, they freeze too hard to melt in your mouth with the ice cream. Melt about 1/2 choc chips with about 1 tbs coconut oil (or shortening ie hard at room temp fat) and drizzle it in as machine spins the last minute. It will create the "chips" you are used to, and which will melt a little in your mouth along with the rest and not be tooth breaking chunks.

This is by far the lowest price I have seen for a compressor machine and hope it's a good one that you all love using. The highlight of my summer is making fresh peach ice cream with the last of the season peaches from the farmer's market. I've had my machine 20+ years now and been making ice cream all those years.

Sorry for the long post I don't often have such direct experiences to accompany a Slickdeal! 😊

PS You don't taste the vodka (tho I use the whipped cream flavor nowadays just because I can). It's just there to inhibit.freezing and keep it scoopable.
This is my recipe for a 1.5 quart ice cream maker

Two cups cream
Half cup sugar
Two teaspoons vanilla (or to taste)
(optional) half cup cocoa

Mix well in separate bowl (I do it with fork in large measuring cup) and pour into already-turning ice cream maker.

You can also dump in random other flavors to taste if you want. I've tried (sometimes separately, sometimes mix and match) caramel from a bottle of those flavors they sell in the coffee aisle, peppermint extract, chocolate chips, and almond butter.

Do you have a good recipe for both an easy vanilla and easy chocolate ice cream? Recipes with no eggs or cooking involved.

I think you're gonna like this machine. Also: Don't forget that you can also make 2 batches back to back. It comes with 2 mixing paddles, a smaller white paddle for the removable bowl with the handle and a larger blueish paddle for the permanent steel bowl built into the base of the machine. Make the first batch in the steel bowl with the handle. When it's done remove that bowl then you can make a 2nd batch in the steel bowl that's permanently mounted in the base using the other blueish mixing paddle.

This feature might help you when you're tweaking, perfecting new recipes in small batches before using them in your pro machine.

Couldn't resist. I've always wanted to have one of these, but not willing to spend a couple of hundreds. No real hesitation at this price. Thanks OP!

I have this same one. It works great and it's nice not having a bowl take up space in your freezer. The serving is small, probably good for 2 people. The machine is fairly large, about the same footprint as one of those large KitchenAid mixers.

Great deal on a compressor model! I've been using a Ninja Creami, which is nice, but tends to produce a texture that rough on the tongue. I'm hoping this compressor model is more like soft-serve.

So how do you clean the permanent non-removable steel bowl if you do use it?

Thanks OP! Got one. The system defaulted the payment to 5 Easy Pay, and then QVC cancelled my order saying Easy Pay wasn't available for this item. I had no idea I chose Easy Pay. I could no longer use the coupon to reorder the same item online since I used it on this order that they cancelled. I had to call in to re-order, but the rep said there was no way to use the coupon again because I already used it on this order that they cancelled. Had to ask for a supervisor who actually spoke English to help me out. He was able to reinstate the order and apply the coupon.

I've been making ice cream for years. I have the Kitchenaid attachment. It's a pain having to freeze the bowl, it's been working well. I'd have to say the ice creams that I made without eggs were not as good as the ones with eggs. Can't wait to try this one!

If you look at the third pic on the product page, you can see the removable pieces (the bowl, the paddle) that should be pretty easy to clean. Think of it like a bowl within a bowl, where the outer bowl houses the compressor and the inner bowl contains the ingredients. Only one should ever really need cleaning, although you should be able to clean the permanent bowl when it's off with a damp cloth or something.

I'm existing qvc customer and the code worked anyway. Hate those ones you need to freeze the day before.
If anyone wants chewy ice cream, try mix some xanthan gum with the mixture. Comes out pretty good.Thanks.
