CDr has a horrible life span, I've seen them fail in 3-5 years. Keep in mind the lifespan of a pressed CD is decades but a CDr is only in years.

Hold the lime!!! It'll be $50 soon. You can't write much with 2TB nowadays, given NVME is now the only internal drive available. Hopefully 4TB will be $99 this BF sale

CDs are way too susceptible to damage, especially scratching. Of course there are pros and cons to each, I just think this is an important detail.

How are you storing your CDRs? I have one that has been sitting in my car's CD slot for over 5 years with no problem.

You might find an NVME for that price on BF. But I think that there is just as good of a chance that prices have begun to go back up by then.

We are already in "Back to School" sales.
I do not know how much of an oversupply there is....but it is not like the companies will ignore this and just keep making these at the levels that they have been.
It will not take some fake shortage. It will just take the companies pulling back on production ...to allow the demand to balance back out. I suspect that they already did this...and we are just in the sweet spot at the moment.

Its true. I have already had CDRs dry-rot, and they were maybe 10 years old. They were stored in the bottom of my closet, which was a cool, dry, dark place.

I've found it frankly depends on a lot of factors like quality of the disc and the burn quality. Some burners do a really bad job, and some discs are terrible.

So it's not just storage.
