I bought two at $99. on what was probably a price mistake from Costco when a member her alerted to the deal. It was taken down in 2 hours. Free shipping too. Sold them each for $400. The thing with Bote is they are all about the heavy marketing, but are horrible with any warranty claim. They deny, delay, and tell lie after lie. This drop stich/high pressure seat has been out of stock on this model and another for 2 years with c/s telling people not in stock, but more coming next month. I know two fishermen using this same kayak, seats blew at the seams and no warranty replacement, but they continue to sell these complete. Avoid these Florida based liars. Go with companies that will take care of you: NRS, Aquaglide, Saturn, Sea Eagle, Advanced Elements.

These are much much better. The Tobin is extremely cheaply made. My buddy got one on clearance at Costco for 50 bucks and he still hates it. It tore his hands up because the included paddle is too short, and the kayak itself buckles in the middle under weight if you're a bit heavier, so you sit very low in it. This Bote kayak is more like a sit on top kayak because of the seat and the rigidity of the materials used.

Hope this helps.

My wife bought this with the intentions of using it with our 7 year old son and it turned out to be too small for 2 people. We did not add a second seat, just had him sit in front of her.
We ended up returning it to Costco and purchased a different Bote kayak.

am i right that the inflatable seat in the picture, which I'd definitely want, usually runs $139 [boteboard.com]?

this link appears to show it for much less [trailwayadventure.com] ($52.88) but I know nothing about the seller

Anyone have experience using something similar in the ocean? I've been wanting to get something to go fish 100yds or so offshore.

Anyone know if this would be good to go kayaking in a river, such as the San Marcos River in Texas? Or should I get a sit-on rotomolded one instead, like this one:

Wondering if there is a throughout review on this one. Amazon only have 5 reviews and it doesn't looks that good.

These are solid products. Highly recommend. Have used multiple versions 50-200 yds offshore in the FL panhandle, rivers and estuaries near Jacksonville, and in New Orleans (Mid-city)

Only downside is cost (and out of season storage if you don't have a garage or large truck)

Great deal OP, in for another one.

read the sad stories on Reddit. Pee poor warranty and one does need a good warranty anytime high pressure kayaks are made with drop stitch construction.

Last month they were $99. on what was likely some price error. Some of us bought multiples with free shipping too. It was live for maybe 2-3 hours.
Sell me one for $140

I think you must be right. Five reviewers mention the seat and none of them talk about a separate purchase. But I can't get past this...
