I bought two at $99. on what was probably a price mistake from Costco when a member her alerted to the deal. It was taken down in 2 hours. Free shipping too. Sold them each for $400. The thing with Bote is they are all about the heavy marketing, but are horrible with any warranty claim. They deny, delay, and tell lie after lie. This drop stich/high pressure seat has been out of stock on this model and another for 2 years with c/s telling people not in stock, but more coming next month. I know two fishermen using this same kayak, seats blew at the seams and no warranty replacement, but they continue to sell these complete. Avoid these Florida based liars. Go with companies that will take care of you: NRS, Aquaglide, Saturn, Sea Eagle, Advanced Elements.

These are much much better. The Tobin is extremely cheaply made. My buddy got one on clearance at Costco for 50 bucks and he still hates it. It tore his hands up because the included paddle is too short, and the kayak itself buckles in the middle under weight if you're a bit heavier, so you sit very low in it. This Bote kayak is more like a sit on top kayak because of the seat and the rigidity of the materials used.

Hope this helps.

My wife bought this with the intentions of using it with our 7 year old son and it turned out to be too small for 2 people. We did not add a second seat, just had him sit in front of her.
We ended up returning it to Costco and purchased a different Bote kayak.

Yes the costco package comes with a seat, a paddle, a pump, and a bag. Mine was actually missing the pump and I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me (a better) one free

They have ICAST best fishing kayak award but yeah heavy marketing. This thing is not made for fishing. No separate chamber design nor hook resistance. Honestly, none of the inflatables are enjoyable when you take them out fishing. I had a ~1k NRS inflatable but it's too flat and light to withstand any wind on the lake so ended up with an Oldtown AP136.

My ww boat is an Aire Outfitter and it's pretty much bulletproof. A few of my fishing buds use inflatables, but will go back to hard shells after too many patches. Bote is big on marketing/advertising, but they are crap for warranty. Call them and tell them your seat leaks at the seam and see what they say. They have 2 or 3 stores in Florida and they really don't care about the customer after the sale. That ICAST award means little and they likely contributed to the group first. They know how to play that game.

Waiting a high grade inflatable kayak for a while, thanks OP!
this is not high grade. Spend money on Saturn, Advanced Elements, Sea Eagle, NRS, Aire, or Aquaglide. Bote does not disclose the denier (thickness) of their PVC and it felt thin to me. Saturn has the heaviest PVC at 1,100 which is the same as their commercial white water rafts.

I'd imagine same as anything else. You don't like it (don't even need a reason), and they take it back.

Not that I wanted too, but we had no issues returning two mattress, each used for like 6 months (hoping they would be more comfortable). Not packaging or anything, brought it back and they gave full refund.

Their return policy is very open, there are essentially no time limits for something like this. I suppose, they may give you a hard time if you tried to return it 5 years from now.

Just google Costco return policy.

Can you recommend an equivalent but higher quality alternative to this boat? What kind of price are we talking about?

I'd be willing to pay a little more but at $300 this seems like it's enough savings to be well worth it even with the understanding that it's not top of the line. Especially combined with the Costco return policy.

At 10' long it's not going to give you much speed, tracking or glide as a 12'+ length, but that can be forgiven due to it's low price. Yes, the Costco return is excellent. For general use, you should be fine.
