Note that Samsung adds sales tax on the original retail price of all items in cart, not considering any trade-in discounts or anything - that makes the total $240+$175 = $375 in CA

And I was making people aware that Samsung is only doing that because he's in California. I have the same items in my cart in VA ($50 for the phone after trade, $50 for the buds, $150 for the watch) and the after-tax total for all 3 is $266.xx, for a whopping $16 in tax. Samsung charges tax on the pre-discounted, pre-trade prices only because Cali and some other states make them. Most do not.

It's exactly the same when you do a trade in deal at Best Buy or anywhere else when you live in CA.

Any thoughts on trading my S22+ for this? I don't expect I'll ever get $1000 trade in for it otherwise. Free if I use Verizon bill credits (which I'm not crazy about). As someone that has to carry 2 phones because of work the form factor is a big plus for me.
Case by case, I guess. I am just not a big fan of these foldable phones. More parts more complications and hard to fix. I had the flip 3 for about a year, Costco Verizon messed it up on the trade-in, so I ended up transferring to T-mobile and got most of the phone balance paid off, then, I traded my paid off flip 3 for S22(~$250 extra via Samsung), went back to Verizon(their call quality simply is the best). My flip3 had several issues that it couldn't be fixed. I don't think I would go back to any foldables at this point.

I loved my flip 4 but when the hinge broke and rendered the phone useless I could not use this thing as a daily
They will literally replace this for free. Same thing happened to me. Phone works fine ever since.

That's what worries me. Durability along with likely abysmal battery life. These phones don't last long.
The only durability concern is the screen protector sometimes peeling off after a year or so, but Samsung offers a free one-time replacement. As for battery life, only the Z Flip 3 and prior had abysmal battery. The Flip 4 has great battery life due to the TSMC's more efficient chips (better than even Samsung's S series phones). I expect the 5 should be an even bigger improvement. Just my 2 cents.

How fussy is Samsung on screen protector? I have a flip4 and the protector is in pretty bad shape. The screen below is perfectly fine though
Just remove the screen protector when you submit

That's how it's calculated in Indiana as well. I bought (in Indiana), but the info set expectations correctly for me.

Flip 4 battery life was fairly bad. Not abysmal, but far below average. It was a bit of a downgrade from my (not great battery life) Pixel 6. Flip 4 *was* much better than the Flip 3, which was abysmal.

I regret picking the lavender color now. I should've gone with yellow. 😞

Not really. The usual eBay sellers are too high for it to be worth it. You're probably better off looking at other trade in options. Paying $400-500 (eBay) to play that game is a nonstarter imo. But you might think it's worth it.

No, that is not true.
Been trading up for last 6 years.
Stuff was always taxed on after trade in price.

I would get that replaced under warranty if I were you, samsung is notorious for not taking the full value of trade ins for anything, also document and video everything before sending it out
