Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals

On Gigabit tier $70 a month with Autopay from checking. Everytime my offer runs out, something or other works out with Xfinity. If one CS doesn't help, disconnect and call again. Doing this since 10+ years. I have Verizon available in my area as well which is tad cheaper on gigabit tier, but I keep Xfinity.

Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.

can someone explain WHY would someone need 400mbps for everyday use? it's Bisard and insane unless you're downloading heavy files or p0rn on regular bases

I am paying $10/mo for xfinity 75mbps and $10/mo for xfinity 200mbps at another home and its same experience.

You shouldn't have to pay $50/mo to watch netflix 4k or facebook.com LMAO

Rather invest in a GOOD router that will support those speeds thru out the house and multiple devices.

this advice is free and you're welcome!
Great question. Stream vs download.

A popular game I play on my console just had a near gigabyte update - 950 to be rough.

Now, it's known that 1 Mbps = 0.125 MB/s, eh? So, your 75 Mbps = 9.34~ on a clean line.

Someone who has a 400 Mbps plan is getting 50 MB/s. There's a huge difference.

Is 5X the speed truly worth it? ....Maybe not. Whadda bout that person though with a 1GIG plan who is getting 125MB/s on a perfect connection? That's WELL worth it, as quickly eating through a large download to be able to play a game is a wonderful feeling. Now, a lot of my updates are a few gigs, so waiting 5 mins vs potentially 20-25 is well worth it when you have a life to live and can't dedicate hours to game.

In addition, for a singular person, your plan is more than enough if you have time management. Everyone though isn't the same though. As I WFH a major tradeoff is files I download count against my data cap, and slow internet ain't what it do.

Basically, everyone's use cases are different, but I wouldn't shame someone who has a faster package than you

What really chaps my ass is that my plan "cost" is 131/mo for 1200mbps and 185 channels, but my monthly bill is 194!! I can't even see what it would cost me to just keep my internet plan on their website because it won't let me remove the TV portion. And that's without a term agreement...
Fidium installed in our neighborhood recently I need to look into that

Our $50 lifetime deal with Comcast is now up to $62/mo for 120mbps down and up to 1TB/mo. Sounds like a deal, I'm just going to have to have a few drinks before I can face a call to their customer service. Hopefully the TMO service is ready within a couple years at our house. Looking forward to firing Comcast.

Always interesting to me how people ever hit these caps. We heavily stream daily, from 4k movies to youtube videos and have some months where we're downloading chunky games + updates on two Xboxes yet have never come close to even being notified of hitting a cap.

Phones make more sense for unlimited but for me I'm grandfathered on a super cheap plan with just 2gb and maybe around Christmas time with a lot of gift researching do I ever go over. $5 extra a year for that time sure beats the ungodly prices of unlimited these days.
If you're a gamer and go digital now, downloading a game or just updating your game can be 20-50GB EACH TIME. That is one of the major ways and things like live streaming also take up a lot of data.

I agree that you should hang up/discontinue the chat if you do not get what you want from one agent. Keep doing it as many times as you can tolerate to get the best deal.

It's amazing how often these sales agents make up crap in order to get you sign up for a "deal" for which they can get the sales credit. I always go in with all the details of the current plan in front of me and then innocently ask questions like "how long is my current price good?" when I already know the answer. You get one agent who says "tomorrow," another "in a month" and on and on, even if there is another six months of the price lock remaining.

Also be careful about their push for the xFi. I have met agents who lie that the XFi gateway gives you unlimited data and try to sell it for the lower price when you actually need the xFi Complete for that.

Finally, I always use the chat in order to have a written record of what I discussed with the agents.

How's this saving. I had a 200 mb plan they could barely get me 75 mbps tops and sometimes it went below 10 mbps. 1 device at that time was streaming. Finally brought ATT fiber by me and I have 300 mbps at$65 a month got over 300 in gift cards. My U.S. mobile (Verizon) is 30 a month for 25 gigs, all these beat what I had price wise with them and I have 375 Mbps w fiber and my phone totaling 95 a month where as before my internet was getting to 80 plus for just internet. They offered me 400 at the lower price but couldn't get me 75 Mbps most of the time when I had 200 Mbps, even they admitted if I'm not getting it's no use offering the higher one. I know it's YMMV in your area but geez.

I moved and Xfinity ot CenturyLink fiber were available. I dropped Xfinity so fast (was paying 65 for 250mbps before). The whole 1-2 year BS cycle of fighting for a decent price is ridiculous.

I'm on CenturyLink gigabit and it's been $50 since day one. No price increases, no worries, no contract.
You are one of those fortunate ones where you have an option. For the most of USA, there is only one broadband option. It got better the last couple of years because of t-mobile and verizon 5G home internet, but it is not really a decent option if you are talking gigabit speeds.

Having said that, you don't necessarily have to cancel and sign up later. I have been with Xfinity for years now (primarily because I have no other choice), but all I do is give them a call when the contract is up. I setup a reminder right away to call them a month before contract expiry. I have been paying between $40-50 in the past 5-6 years with increasing speed.. I am now at 1Gbps paying $40 with auto pay(and I get a $20 additional discount for xfinity mobile.. lowering broadband cost to $20)

I'm all for "right-size" internet like a non-tech friend 4yrs ago he has gig internet and I asked him what he uses it for and he was unable to explain it (he didn't even have a 4K TV). Fast forward, his kids are grown up and he just hit the xfinity 1.2TB monthly cap for the first time.
...I can't imagine going back down to 75Mbps which at best may get you under 100Mbps except for basic web surfing and at most single HD streaming.
One 4K stream takes like 25Mbps. So you could probably stream three 4k and still have room for web surfing.

I agree with the first person, they are pushing higher speeds on most people who don't need them. Where Xfinity is weak is in upload speed, which average people don't to that much.

Just call them and ask for options. And if you are not using your own modem, do it already.. saves about $10! If you are not on auto-pay with bank account, do that as well.

You may get your plan options if you just log into your online account portal. Make it an "upgrade" - so you can do it free. Most of the time when I check, the plan with higher speed than mine is priced cheaper, so I "upgrade" the speed and lower the monthly cost with no fees Smilie

Nice, glad they are giving more competitive pricing w/o contract. I'm currently paying $40 for 400mbps w/ no contract. 2 year term as well.
Check your address and see if there's fiber optic network coming soon or already available!
Xfinity tend not to give promotions to customers where they are the only (or only viable) provider. If there is better or equally alternatives, their offer becomes lucrative to try not letting you switch.

P.S. If you found out you have Fiber optic internet (such as Verizon FiOS or AT&T Fiber), might as well consider switching. Fiber optic network have symmetrical speeds, relatively stable performance and unlimited data. You are also more likely to be able to use the entire speed allocated to you.

*Note: Pricing not available in all areas. If you look online most likely you wont find that price as it is not showing in my area.

In my area they offer 200 for $25 or with T-Mobiles Home Internet up to 500 for $50. My apartment building was built in 2018 and has Centurylink Fiber/Xfinity/T-Mobile 5G Home internet available.

Thanks dude bro. I dropped my price on 1 gig from a dumb price of 123/mo all in, to 86/mo all in. It's still ridiculous. I was on 70/mo 2 year promo until 2 months ago. Also renting their dumb equipment for 15/mo but I don't think my owned equipment can do 1 gig speeds.
Plus with their dumb equipment (xFi modem), when mid-split gets enabled in your area, you'll get 120 Mbps UP, whereas they're not yet enabling that for BYO modems....

I was renting their xFi modem (and xFi Complete) on a 2-year promo for a 600 Mbps/20Mbps plan (that later upped to 800 Mbps down), but then last month realized my upload speeds had also just increased to 120 Mbps because they upgraded my area to mid-split.

Verizon Fios gigabit absolutely destroys Xfinity gigabit on upload speeds. Really helps a lot when the fam has 2-3 live video feeds going plus TV shows streaming
