Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals

On Gigabit tier $70 a month with Autopay from checking. Everytime my offer runs out, something or other works out with Xfinity. If one CS doesn't help, disconnect and call again. Doing this since 10+ years. I have Verizon available in my area as well which is tad cheaper on gigabit tier, but I keep Xfinity.

Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.

Was paying 200 Mbps for 50$ . Seen they had a special for 400mbps for 60$ . Not a 2 year contract but for 1 tho . Still worth the little upgrade for 10 more . Thanks for posting.

Xfinity always has bundle offers like if you bring a line to Xfinity Mobile you will qualify for another $20-$30/ month. Even if you don't want to bring your primary number to Xfinity Mobile, bring a Google voice number(you will end up paying about $17/month) but you will earn more discounts on your internet bill.

Signed up as new customer under my wife's name, SSN. 200Mbps for $40 with credit card payment. This is $10 less I had paid before and before my promotional price expired. Activated my old modem via the app on new account, took a few seconds and got service. Old account got auto cancelled at the same time. No calling, no chatting. ✌️
Wow, I am interested in doing this. I have my own modem. So, according to your experience, you don't need to call to cancel your existing account, just use your wife's SSN to sign up a new account/promotion, and your existing account under your name automatically get cancelled/terminated?

This is correct. After I had signed up under my wife's info, I downloaded the app onto a 2nd phone, signed in and went through the activation steps. I had to enter the MAC address of my self-owned modem. They reprovisioned it, the modem restarted and I had service again as before. I got the "Thanks for choosing Xfinity" email on the new account email and "We received your cancellation request" email on the old account email. Easy peasy.

So I ended up signing up as a new customer using my existing Xfinity login/pass which had my existing name/email address/payment info, etc. This is so dumb.

To elaborate - I was paying $50 for 800Mb service but it was about to run out in a month or two. In my area, they were offering 1000Mb AND unlimited data (if you used their modem) for $60 for 24 months (their equipment would be free of charge for this amount; unfortunately if you used your own device, you would lose out on the unlimited data - but if it's free, I don't really care). To be honest, I don't really care about the jump from 800Mb to 1000 but not having a data cap is worth the extra $10 for me.

I called and talked to the rep and asked him to offer me the new customer offer or else I would cancel. He was sympathetic but was unable to do so. I asked to cancel this service and to terminate it in a couple of days so I could get my hands on the equipment in the meantime. I then logged in and proceeded as a new customer at my address. At the end when you have to enter your info - ie name, email, etc - it gives you an option to sign in using your Xfinity account. I did so and all my existing account information popped up. I then was able to finish the checkout. Now when I log in, I am able to see information for two accounts with the same name/address but the account numbers are different. Kind of silly but that's Comcast for you.

They said I can pick up the equipment at an Xfinity store but then I also got a text saying my stuff was about to ship soon, so we'll see what happens when I venture out tomorrow to try and pick it up.

Well that is a very location specific question... In WA state the tax is $0.

Does this have the 1TB cap that our old xfinity cable line had? That still would kill it for me since we switched to streaming from cable.

This is why people overpay for internet.

The average UHD stream is 15 Mbps. So 4 people stream UHD is 60 Mbps. OK say you have TEN people streaming UHD 4k that is 150 Mbps. Gaming does not use a lot of data it is latency sensitive so a 200 Mbps link has the same latency as a 400 Mbps link.

The only killer is game downloads. So do you want to wait 10 min or 20 min to download a game. I guess the few extra hundred bucks is up to you.

I run a business out of my house have crazy streaming kids and game downloads and according to my commercial router (I have 300/300) I went to the max DL average is less than 10 minutes a month.

I tell everyone w/ gig around here save the $40 and move to 300 and you wont even notice. BUT of course that is an individual decision.

UL is the killer for cable it is anemic for now, but w/ Docsis 4 they may get up to speed w/ fiber and that is great for cloud apps.
Your assumption here is that speeds and bandwidth are linear, and they're not. But your claim that people think they need gig speeds is accurate. I've downgraded from gig to 800mbps and never saw much of a difference. I could go to 400mbps if I wanted to, but there isn't any need.

With cable you have channels (down & up) so a higher speed will take better advantage of those channels than lower speeds. This isn't as much an issue with fiber and to an extent, 5G, though 5G has other issues where the speed can factor into the experience. And on top of all this, you have latency which will hamper any theoretical speed no matter how high it is.

Like many things in life, just because netflix is 15mbps and downloading files is 5mbps doesn't mean "25mbps is all I need". Get something that pushes that limit out a bit in case of heavy/multi-use.

Not gonna lie. I was always afraid that they would increase our price after seeing us do this and to know that everyone does this. I will always sign up after every 2 years now. It doesn't pay to be loyal or be a gold

Telecoms have a set price, aka rack rate pricing, that they charge per area. They can't "raise" your rate because of what you're doing. But what you see when they say "$50/mo for 12 mos" is promotional pricing, just like Apple TV free for 3 mos ($12.99/mo after) or $1/mo for 2 months at Golds Gym, $22.99/mo after that. When you fall off the promotional campaign, you then get charged the rack rate for your services, at that time. You can either pay it, or repackage into a new campaign.

Where people fail with some of this is they feel they have to call in and cancel, which is like sitting down at a restaurant and telling the waitress "i'm hungry, I want this dish, and don't take forever to make it".

I've been with Comcast for almost 9 years now. I signed up paying $180/mo for TV, Internet and Home Security. 9 years later, i'm paying $230 for the same services, just higher internet speeds. I always sign up for their best pricing (contracts, auto pay, etc.) and every time my contract ends I walk into a store, NICELY, and say "i'm an existing customer and want to know what promotions I qualify for" and they are very helpful. I then get repackaged based on their then current pricing, keep nearly everything I already have, and I leave. It's not hard.

I moved and Xfinity ot CenturyLink fiber were available. I dropped Xfinity so fast (was paying 65 for 250mbps before). The whole 1-2 year BS cycle of fighting for a decent price is ridiculous.

I'm on CenturyLink gigabit and it's been $50 since day one. No price increases, no worries, no contract.
i wish they are in my area

There's no link for this per se. This is very region specific, as far as I can tell. You just go to the Xfinity website, type in your address, choose the "new customer" option and see what it offers you.

Since when does Scumcast require SSN? Is it a regional thing? Signed up laste year without it.
