Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals

On Gigabit tier $70 a month with Autopay from checking. Everytime my offer runs out, something or other works out with Xfinity. If one CS doesn't help, disconnect and call again. Doing this since 10+ years. I have Verizon available in my area as well which is tad cheaper on gigabit tier, but I keep Xfinity.

Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.

You'd be surprised what you can do with 50Mbps and a good router that can do quality of service. 2 HD streams, a kid on YouTube and two work from home parents online w/Zoom or Teams is no issue even with 50Mbps speeds.
Speeds are more important when you want to download frequently (for example, computer updates, games, etc). If a household mostly streams, they can do just fine with 200Mbps or under.

Since when does Scumcast require SSN? Is it a regional thing? Signed up laste year without it.
I don't know. They asked for it during account creation. Perhaps to check if you can afford their high prices.

can someone explain WHY would someone need 400mbps for everyday use? it's Bisard and insane unless you're downloading heavy files or p0rn on regular bases

I am paying $10/mo for xfinity 75mbps and $10/mo for xfinity 200mbps at another home and its same experience.

You shouldn't have to pay $50/mo to watch netflix 4k or facebook.com LMAO

Rather invest in a GOOD router that will support those speeds thru out the house and multiple devices.

this advice is free and you're welcome!
I work from home and have to send large software builds back and forth. It saves me a couple seconds each build to have faster internet.

If only the upload was better to complete the cycle

Is Comcast astroturfing this thread? There are far too many bootlicking comments in here that make absolutely no sense from a consumer standpoint:

"Who even needs these speeds?"

Literally everyone who consumes media via streaming services in a multi-user household, plays video games (the average game download is around 100GB), or works from home.

"Who needs unlimited data? Data caps aren't an issue."

Think of it this way. If your state restricted how many miles you could travel on the highway every month, wouldn't you raise an eyebrow? Now couple that with the idea that you're allowed unlimited miles if and only if you drive a car they assign to you, which is largely underpowered, restricted, and they have enhanced abilities to monitor you at all times. With Xfinity, you only get unlimited data if you use their terrible, invasive hardware or pay extra (in some regions, they even force you to go to a business plan).

When you couple that with the knowledge that the only reason Xfinity is allowed to do this to begin with is because the former corrupt FCC Chairman, Ajit Pai, is a corporate lapdog who gave telecoms a bunch of overreaching power to abuse the consumer and exploit their data in ways you may not even be aware of, none of this should sit right with you.

Comcast was given a ton of money to expand broadband access and they pocketed it.

So even if you're in the small (minded) minority who think the fastest speeds possible without data caps are more than you need, that doesn't mean it applies to everyone. And it certainly isn't going to break the infrastructure like they always claim. It's just about control and profit for them.
And they say the right is too deep in conspiracy theories...

Anyway, I was offered 400 Mbps for $35/month with unlimited data.

I currently pay $20 for 800 Mbps. It also includes the mobile discount since have Xfinity mobile. In my area, we have 3 different options for internet and Xfinity always gives me the best deal.
It is all about competition. They wanted to raise my 50 Mbps to $75 at the end of one year promotion contract. The only other provider in my area was att with max 25 Mbps. And just around that time T-Mobile started their over the cell tower home internet service in my area. Xfinity called me themselves and offered to upgrade my service to 400 Mbps and lowered my bill to $40.

yes thats Tmobile [$25/mo TMHI w/ $100GC and $50GC for switching)
The savings was diverted to hardwear - aftermarket modem+router ($250)
That is interesting. Does the aftermarket modem provide better signal than the TMobile modem? Can you share where to buy it? Thanks

Does this have the 1TB cap that our old xfinity cable line had? That still would kill it for me since we switched to streaming from cable.
It has a 1TB data cap, you need to pay extra $10/mo for "unlimited" data, and after 2 year, it is an extra $25/mo. Not sure if this is a regional thing.

Call them and say you want to cancel xfinity and go for other companies (if there are). They will give you a good deal.

My xfinity 200MB used to be 40$/month. After one year, it went up to $72 so I switched to AT&T fiber 300 for $55/month. I called xfinity to cancel and they are willing to offer 400MB for $50, the same as what the OP posted. I didn't take it and will try AT&T anyway.

For the last two years, I have been paying $60 for 800mbps down that includes XiFi Complete and unlimited data.
Man wish that was me. I'm $118 for 1000 Mbps Xfi unlimited as the only other option is Century Link 15 Mbps which is useless in todays age. My town is though half way done adding their own fiber and I'll soon have the option of 2000 Mbps for $100 and I'm counting the days to tell Comcast to shove it up their arse.

Everything is regional with Comcast and it's an outdated crooked practice. Imagine let's say Verizon charged people double in their home area if they knew AT&T and T-Mobile had no service there but one town over all three carriers worked great and the cost was half that. That's Comcast. Im sure phone carriers would do the same thing if phones weren't portable to be fair though. Comcast is truly a disgrace in so many ways but many of us have no choice but to sleep with the devil.

Just FYI that these are not new deals. I have had both of these deals in the past 4 years or so. I had 1Gbps a few years ago for $60. When my deal ended I downgraded to 400Mbps for $50.

400mbps for $50/month is not a deal these days....it should be $40, even that...it supposed to be a normal price.
