Most cleaner, including CLR/citric acid, didn't remove hard water ring and rust stain for me. The only real chemistry that works is 10% Hydrochloric acid (HCl). Make sure you have skin protection and ventilation while using. Just search "acidic bowl cleaner"

Have you tried Barkeepers Friend? It's an abrasive powder like Comet, but it has oxalic acid. I've used it to remove rust stains and other stains on my boat where a screw has left a rust stain. If the stain is bad, you can make a paste and leave it in place. They make a liquid version like a soft scrub but I haven't found that it works as well as the powder.

Yes I tried pumice stone. With a lot of time and effort, it worked, to some extent.

But HCl made my 20-year bowl spotless and shine like new.
