Does the console need to be on VPN when you enter the code? Meaning, If I buy and redeem this on VPN - can I then give the code to my son to enter on his console that is not on VPN?

How is the game?
For what its worth, I have not be able to redeem a turkey key that I purchased for this price. Not sure if anyone has tips but seems like I flushed money down the drain
