most complains are chipping, with either brands. not sure if they are trying to cut a rock..one says, they used it cutting vegetables and meat only. the other says for eating chicken breast and after 1 usage the steak knife chipped, pictures posted too.

lol, that BD1N Nexus set is pretty much the only thing left of the whole Nexus BD1N series. It was on clearance for around $200 the whole year and now is $329.95 with the sale.

The BD1N steel is quite decent, though, hold the razor-sharp edges very long and the handle doesn't need pampering. The out-of-the-box quality of the knives is not consistent, but I usually give my knives new edge anyway.

Pffttt. Ya'll paying extra to have something that requires extra maintenance and is prone to breaking.

Go grab a $15 Mercer knife off Amazon with a rubber handle that you can toss in the dishwasher. Cooking professionals use them in their kitchen kits. I'm sure it'll be good enough for home use.

Haven't tired the Mercer and while I own several overpriced knives, I use my 8" Victorianox the most, relatively cheap, sturdy, although not pretty to look at.

Wow, Wusthof Classics have really gone up.

I remember back in the day getting them much cheaper on sale from Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond. To bad those days are gone.

I guess I'll just keep the ones I have and take good care of them. I've even destroyed a few, and Wusthof has always sent me a new replacement. So that part of the warranty is excellent. Lifetime no-questions-asked warranty, hard to find that anymore.

I bought a 6.5" black one. I think this is a waste of money, but one is ok to test. Hopefully it becomes a staple knife in my household.
