JBtools does not sell fake batteries. it's a relatively new product so it won't have many reviews

also, i'm going to let you on a little secret. but do not tell a soul. amazon allows a lot of sellers to sell on their platform, some of them ship junk from china. BUT, if you buy directly from amazon or from a reputable merchant, like, say JBtools, you will not get a fake.

again. this a secret. tell no one!

Perhaps you aren't familiar with the new PowerStacks. They punch above their weight in discharge amperage with less voltage sag under load and all in a more compact battery. Other than battery capacity, it performs more like an XR 5Ah battery… which you'd never want on something like a cordless ratchet (too unwieldy). Heck, I want a PowerStack for my DCS438 cut-off tool (basically a tiny 3" angle grinder with a one-hand pistol grip).

PowerStack batteries accomplish this with stacked lithium pouch cells instead of cylindrical cells. In the DeWALT line PowerStack>21700 cells>18650 cells for a given capacity. The power difference is big enough that competing brands have launched entirely new tool/battery lines around it (Flex 24v).

PowerStacks are premium batteries. As the OP points out, this is an even better deal than the two pack of standard PowerStacks that is still on the front page. The MSRP looks like less for more compared to standard batteries if you only consider capacity. So, yeah: Buy a regular battery for your work light. This is more appropriate for small tools that need more power from small batteries (impacts and such).

Edit: Also, it's not 1.7MaH. It's 1.7Ah (1,000x more).

If you are ignorant of a product, it is best to learn about it before voicing speculative opinions with overconfidence. The advantages here are not in capacity but current discharge rate, and in this version, oil resistance. This isn't a "fake value." This is measurable benefit. And although great for drills and impacts, it is also good for situations with other tools in which the size/weight are important (overhead applications) as an alternative to a 4-6 Ah battery with similar current output

I think im liking the 4Ah slim packs for ~$37 a pack instead (woot deal). Similar power output. I think these provide a bit more punch in freezing temperatures.

Whats the benefit of being "Oil Resistant"? Have mechanics never been able to use Dewalt tools before this came out lol?

In for one, been waiting to try one of these out; supposedly power rating of a 5mah.

They do. But most tools degrade when constantly soaked in oil and other automotive fluids. I definitely understand the need for this type of battery. Even if it only makes it last a year or two longer, that would be great.

My understanding is that oil will eventually melt natural rubber, which is why you are supposed to use silicon rubber instead where you may need to seal against oil. The rubber molding and shock resistance of some tools/batteries may eventually do the same if they are constantly bathed in it. A cordless ratchet used to remove oil pans and do dozens of oil changes every day would ideally have a compact, oil-resistant, battery hence, the oil-resistant PowerStack.

Also, several DeWALT tools (not just batteries) are marketed as "oil resistant."

If you are going to pay 40-50% more they need to provide some fake value. Seeing this is 1.7 MaH its not going to last very long and only be used in minor drilling/driving applications.
