I'll agree on the cell imbalance issue. I have one that would die after 15-20 minutes of weed eating with the fuel quik lok trimmer, when should easily last an hour. Researched a little about the 12ah battery dieing quickly, and read about cells being imbalanced so watched a YouTube video on taking it apart and testing the cells with a multimeter. Sure enough, I'd have a cell as high as 4.03v and another as low as 3.7. I went ahead and soldered some leads to each cell and used an RC battery charger set to lithium ion to charge each individual set of cells to get them closer to being balanced. Probably would've been faster to use a lithium battery balancing board, but I didn't have one available. Now all 5 cell sets are sitting at 4.065v-4.071v so hopefully the issue should be fixed, haven't had a chance to test it with the weed eater since though.

Do you have to do frequently? Or is it a one time thing?

They will go out of balance again eventually. Definitely not a one time thing unless you never use/charge the battery again

You didn't explain what the actual hack is here? So all we see if a full price with no idea how to get the cheaper price. Usually with a hack you need to buy something with the thing you want, but what is it here?
