Yes, without a paid subscription, you can only get alerts and view the cameras live.

Bought these for $30 also on sale on Amazon prime day. Great camera, wide recording. I replaced it over my Logitech circles since they're discontinued. Easy installation also. FYI the mount on the bottom is taken off by sliding it upwards. They didn't have instructions for some reason.

Do I need a subscription to view the footage? I don't own a Ring device but it's to my understanding that a subscription is needed for the doorbell footage.

If you pay for the entire year the base plan is $100 and at least for my account I can add as many devices as I want.

I've used the plug in cameras as a baby type camera. Having audio, zoom and motion sensing was helpful.
