The shoe doesn't subsist on a vegan diet, despite having a tongue, if that's what's blowing your mind.

I generally like OnClouds for road running / casual wear but the trail running options are ridiculously fragile and way too floaty

Stick with Salomon / Altra / Hoka / Brooks in this category

Just speculating, but those soles look like they'd pick up a lot of dirt and mud in them. I know a lot of people love On shoes, but they still feel a little "faddy" to me. I'm open to being swayed, but $125 is steep when you can regularly get Altra Lone Peak below $100 (sometimes in the $60s). Or Salomon speedcross, if that's your jam.

I guess they don't kill bugs when you step on them. Must pass as my wife thinks I'm the big killer of the USA

I prefer that my trail running shoes enjoy a nice ribeye every once in a while.

I agree. I've had them for road/casual and they're great, but their weakness is lateral movement and tensile durability due to the design - if you're going off-road, you'll wobble around and the rubber loops will loose plasticity relatively quickly since you're constantly supporting weight at weird angles and high impact. Not worth it for trail running, but definitely worth consideration for road running.

At this price, will it run the race/trail for me? LOL

Just kidding, calm down all of you 'hardcore runners/trekkers'. Just being silly. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜³πŸ˜

Mr. Serious over here just wants to point out that there's a pretty big overlap between Trail / Ultra runners and veganism, and it's nice to see at a glance that there aren't any animal products used in the shoe.

I'm holding out for the special edition ones made from jerky, they don't hold up well but for long distance trail running there's always a risk of getting lost and starving (pairs nicely with edible underwear)

How are these compared to a Hoka Stinson ATR for cushioning? I'm hooked on hoka's... I'm starting to see more folks wearing these shoes but haven't tried on a pair yet. You know, cause I'm such a heavy off road runner... ;o)
