I generally like OnClouds for road running / casual wear but the trail running options are ridiculously fragile and way too floaty

Stick with Salomon / Altra / Hoka / Brooks in this category

Just speculating, but those soles look like they'd pick up a lot of dirt and mud in them. I know a lot of people love On shoes, but they still feel a little "faddy" to me. I'm open to being swayed, but $125 is steep when you can regularly get Altra Lone Peak below $100 (sometimes in the $60s). Or Salomon speedcross, if that's your jam.

I've got a pair of these. They are awesome shoes. I just got back into running after 5 years off, so I'm sure shoes have improved since then. That being said, these are incredibly light and provide decent support. I mainly run on the road with a bit of trail thrown in for good measure.

As a serious runner, this brand does not last at all. No durability. They felt good in the beginning but I wore them out fast like my hot ex
