Have someone else signup (spouse, significant other) and put them as primary and yourself as secondary (domestic) and it will work. As long as the primary hasn't had a membership recently.

I tried emailing customer support again. They haven't replied to my email from yesterday. Doesn't look like I'm doing this deal.
Personally I suspect, Groupon costcutted their IT to the point where disappearing accounts is now a thing. In any online business, disappearing accounts is about as bad as booking transactions against other people's credit card. Another bad sign, support emailed me and asked me for details again which I had put into my original email request. Looks like generic overseas support with typical common sense issues.
