For me, lots of Pros. Biggest Cons are:
16:9 screen (Very noticeable)
SSD PCIe 3.0 instead of Gen4/4.0 (Likely not noticeable, just disappointing)

Bestbuy open box = used. It's just like that. It doesn't even have any accessories other than charger. Sometimes, even charger is missing and bestbuy can only do return.
It's purely gamble. I bought 4 so far, everyone of them has some kind of issues that I know why were they returned. One of them are spread with oil and still in "satisfactory" condition. One of them missing charger for "excellent", one of the have weird noise in fan for "excellent". One is okay but for sure, all of them came with a broken ass box and missed everything other than charger itself

16:9 is disaster. You used 16:10 and would never go back.

I bought an open box excellent laptop before and center of screen had a 1 inch scratch. LOL. Best Buy is close by, so not a big deal to return it.

I'm on the fence at the moment. Might cancel and save myself the trip to return.

I've bought two open box laptops from Best Buy, and both were in excellent shape with original box and original charger. It's one of the lesser-known tech hacks around. But it definitely sounds like it's worth opening up and taking a look in the store before you leave.

Bleh...

Thanks for convincing me about 16:9. I cancelled order.

I think this is a good deal for someone that likes 16:9 (Not me).

I saw this right as they changed the pricing and it was 520 for the open box excellent. By the time I decided (because I was comparing specs to the zenbook flip 15.6) it went up to 790 Frown

It's really bad if you are doing document work and browsing regularly. Wait for a better deal. They pretty much appear every a couple of days

Really? I'm not too well versed with laptops but it's really that big of a deal? Genuinely asking

Should be okayish. The 6GB variant of the 3050 has a 92-bit memory bus instead of 128-bit. You'll lose some noticeable performance that way. But with it being an 3000-series RTX chip, you have DLSS 2.0 so that should help balance out some of the issues. Just know that you won't be playing at native res for any newer titles. 6GB is decent for 1080p, MAYBE 1440p low with DLSS ultra performance, but that's still a very distinct maybe.

So, the Asus page says up to 16GB of DDR5 with one upgradable SODIMM. Is it probably 8gb soldered and 8gb SODIMM? I could replace the 8gb with 32gb and call it a day?

I'm sure the i9 can handle more. Since I run VMs locally, does anyone think I could upgrade myself?

/edit/

Per Google, looks like it's possible, but OP saying it won't match (for dual channel?), which I thought with DDR5 it didn't matter.
