From their website:
Grape-Nuts actually contains neither grapes nor nuts. It's made from wheat and barley. So, why is it called Grape-Nuts? As with many great emblems in history, there are two versions of the story. One says that Mr. Post believed glucose, which he called "grape sugar," formed during the baking process. This, combined with the nutty flavor of the cereal, is said to have inspired its name. Another explanation claims that the cereal got its name from its resemblance to grape seeds, or grape "nuts."
I used to put this in a bowl with milk, make it into mound to top some sugar on top, take a shower and then come down and eat it. Couldn't hear anything. The days before cereal was candy.

Nature's Path Heritage Flakes is my favorite so far.
That is a sweetened cereal (has added sugar). I like Fiber One Original (or equivalent generic) as it has no added sugar (though does have a bit of sucralose which I could do without). Per cup, Fiber one has 135 calories, 27g fiber, 0g sugar, vs Nature's Path with 160 calories, 7g fiber, 5g sugar.
i like a lot of unsweetened cereals and i tried to like grape-nuts but i don't
I do. I dislike most unsweetened cereals cereals and I always need to add fruit. Except Grape Nuts. This is the best tasting cereal that has no natural or artificial sweetener. It's amazing how good it tastes without anything added. It's like they added something secretly and don't tell you. The taste is amazing for something unadulterated.
