Thanks, been watching this come down for awhile. Pre outs and dual sub out. Pretty good for a basic two channel system with tv. Hard to beat this price for what you get, tu.
For Kef R3
recommended amplifier power: 15-180 watts
I'd probably factor in the size of the listening room and how loud you plan to listen, but I don't think the Marantz would have any issues powering the R3's.

Use this with two Martin Logan 20i floor standing speakers Best Buy had for $400/each. Sounds absolutely amazing. Picking up a second to replace an old pioneer receiver.

I am curious how this compares to the Denon s970h which was on sale for $399 some time ago?
Seconded. I get the premium for the Marantz name, but as someone else pointed out, this has pre outs and dual sub outs as does that Denon. Could someone clue in us non-audiophiles?
These things are junk. You can go to any forum any review anywhere all you see is problems with Marantz NR1200 AV Receiver's. Look at Amazon reviews.
You can probably find issues with just about any receiver on the market- that's why there are so many refurbs of practically every model floating around. This has 4.3* on Amazon which isn't bad for a nearly 4 year old unit. I have a system similar to this (a much older network Marantz unit) exclusively for music in my bedroom that tucks away nicely under my bed out of sight driving a couple bookshelf speakers that I've been pretty happy with. But still, unless you really need this short form factor in your home theater I don't see why you wouldn't just go for a 5.1 or 7.1 system priced less with more features and the ability to upgrade in the future.
