You have to have $4 per month plan to get basic alerts on app, Ring used to be good but not anymore
That's basically every system these days. In order to get notifications and such they force you into a subscription service.

Ring system is simple, reliable and pretty cheap.
What exactly you don't like about Ring? At least Amazon is not dropping ball as Google did with Nest.

What is basic alerts? I currently have ring with no sub. I get notifications on my devices for motions and alarm.

I believe they recently changed their plan and new customers have to buy basic plan that is $3.99 to get app alerts. Grandfathered customers are good for now

Don't like the ring, response was super slow, every time the mailman left, the notification popped up. No more ring products.
your wife must turn it off before that.

Thanks, needed this for new place. Is it worth it to wait for a bigger set? 120 from 200 is pretty big discount, do they still have annual plan? I have annual plan, can I use it for 2 different houses/alarms?
Subscription is per house so you'll most likely need two subs for two houses

That's not correct. I have numerous ring devices and get alerts/notifications and I don't pay any sub to them.

you have a grandfathered plan, which is not affected as of now...new customers have to buy a basic plan to get those same features....and hence, my frustration

As much smack people talk about Google/nest (and rightfully so) I can't help but flock back to it when comparing it to other systems. Also, the new developer portal for developing automations in YAML seems promising. Do any competitors offer anything even remotely close?

As far as I have seen the subscription is so your videos are saved online as opposed to just in the cameras (thief takes or destroys and evidence is gone). Alerts were always free. I have had the ring setup with the alarm and various cameras for 4 years and it's ok. One other thing to think about is the base station also works with the new zwave smoke/co detectors so you actually know there may be a fire at your house while you are away. That's worth a lot to me.

I just covered my house in ring products on Prime Day and I love the whole system. Everything just works and I easily installed everything myself. The real deal is the $ 20-a-month plan. With that plan, you get monitoring, a cellular backup. and money off of your homeowner's insurance. But you will need the alarm pro to get the cellular backup, so I wouldn't consider this deal.

What other brand would you recommend for sensors and keypad with no subscription? I'm looking but not sure what to buy.

You are spreading misinformation which happens a lot on SD. You need a subscription for SMART alerts. You get motion alerts and notifications free, no matter when you subscribed. The "grandfathered plan" is just for if you had the protect plus plan before the price increase.

That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Ring is probably your best bet. Cheap, easy to install and maintain, and it's reliable as long as you have good internet.

Why are you searching third party sites? Go to ring and check FAQ. Yikes lol
