You have to have $4 per month plan to get basic alerts on app, Ring used to be good but not anymore

That's basically every system these days. In order to get notifications and such they force you into a subscription service.

Ring system is simple, reliable and pretty cheap.

What exactly you don't like about Ring? At least Amazon is not dropping ball as Google did with Nest.

Any larger packs on sale at Costco or elsewhere else?
Wait for prime day or Black Friday sales for the 14 piece kit. Add on from there with cheap sensors as they go on sale also.

I didn't want to have to pay a subscription for getting notifications on my phone and I wanted something very similar to the ring system, so I bought the Roku Home Monitoring System Bundle from Walmart for $99. Love it so far! Super easy to set up.
You don't pay for notifications. You pay for video storage and active monitoring. Notifications are free for all devices.

Most alarms now either need wifi or cell network to send out alerts. I have my alarm system (not Ring) I bought off Amazon for $139 two years ago. Wifi was not as reliable but offer free alerts and features through its app. Now I pay $5 a month for cell connection instead of using wifi connectivity.

You can find a house alarm system with no monthly fees that can sent alerts through wifi.

I've had a Ring alarm for several years now and have been very happy with it. When I subscribed to Ring Protect it was $100/yr. I know the price is higher now but being grandfathered in on the old price has kept me happy. I love being able to go through back recordings from weeks or even months ago.

Thermostat is totally fine, I own it as well. Google tend to aquire big products and then ditch them. In 2024 they will shut down Nest Security system and will transition those who own it to the ADP. I love Nest, in fact I invested so much in it, doorbell, cameras, smoke detect system, thermostat, door lock etc, and now I'm switching to Ring bc I need security system, so pretty much I need to replace everything I have to a proper eco system. I'll keep Nest thermostat and smoke detectors bc they are superior (at least smoke detectors)

How does this price compare with previous sales? I missed the loop deal for the $69 system.

Don't forget that when you do get professionall monitoring, you get a discount on your homeowners or renters insurance. My discount is bigger than the $100 yearly monitoring/video storage fee.

If you want professional monitoring how much does that cost? Does the Roku system support Z-wave or WiFi locks, home automation, etc.?
20 per month or 200 for the year. If you mean does Ring support Z-wave, I believe it does but with restrictions as they can't vouch for the other equipment. they partner with some specific companies like Kidde for smoke detectors.

my new home insurance requires a central system and ring monitoring counts, but required the $200 a year plan for professional monitoring.

$4 is for self monitoring. You have to act quickly by yourself if alarm goes off.
$30 is probably for pro monitoring. Even if you don't respond, the monitoring center will call PD/FD to your house for you.
