I love wearing my Columbia jacket to office instead knowing that I can still beat the cold, with a lot less money than Patagonia. I simply cannot justify the extra cost. I know I might get lashed out for this comment here.

I almost exclusively wear clothing from Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, Patagonia and North Face, etc. There's definitely a difference between the durability and quality between Patagonia and Columbia. There's even a difference between Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear which is owned by Columbia. The highest quality and longest last gear is made my Patagonia (there are more expensive brands than Patagonia which are nice, too). Yes, it's more expensive and doesn't got on sale for as deep of discounts, but its better quality. I buy a lot of Mountain Hardwear and Marmot because they do a lot of 60%+ off sales. It's all fairly good stuff depending on what you are using it for. Each company kind of has their own specialty.

Not at all. Columbia is great value and if there's a difference in quality between Columbia and North Face or Columbia and Patagonia, I can't periceve it. Maybe if you're 25,000 feet up on a mountain there's a difference, but sitting in my little office on the third floor?

Brand in the title please! Looks like a super cozy jacket. I'd go with the Sedge Green or Wavy Blue. Thanks for including your height/weight and fit! That helps a ton. I like mine a little loose, plus I usually wear Medium jackets/vests from Patagonia, so Medium for me!

Patagonia has a brand following. But I agree. I use columbia gear and like it. Lot less money for quality gear.

What about going to the bike shop on your single speed with a kombucha in your messenger bag?

Price still seems high for a synthetic-fill DWR-treated shell jacket, no?

The Nano Air is meant for active pursuits due to its excellent moisture wicking. It's a fantastic mid layer for skiing (source: I have the vest). It will not keep you warm in freezing temps while sedentary; for that I would recommend one of the down jackets.

I'm sure they look at you funny in Starbucks. If you can afford Patagonia you should be able to afford a more expensive coffee shop.

If without the brand logo on the jacket, how much do you want to pay for it?

Patagonia clothing is repaired free for life. Rips, tears, zippers, wherever in reason.
