For anyone thinking 250 feet is too much, i just re did my bathroom, and bought 2 - 25' rolls and a 50 foot roll not realizing how much i needed, and I spent this much all together, Just get 250 feet.

He obviously isn't talking about overloading any lights.
As he said, "less worries about any type of overload potentially".
The point is, and it's a very wise point, is to not just wire a circuit for your immediate needs, but to also take into account any future loads, as that circuit will also be hidden in walls, attics, etc for many decades in the future.

Overload lights? C'mon. It's also a lot easier to pull 14 and if you want a separate switch for the ceiling fan you need 14/3 which was $168 for 250ft.

Good to see wire prices fairly low again... I think I paid ~$130-150 a couple years back for some 14-2 🙄

Not sure why anyone would ever use 14 vs 12 gauge. Yes, I get it, lights only require 14 but so what, just a few dollars more get heavier gauge and much less worries about any type of overload potential, especially for wire that will probably be in attic, under house or in walls.

It was a much bigger deal when these 250ft rolls of 12/2 were pushing ~$300
