I have a Qudelix 5K with Hifiman 400se with a balanced cable. Does it make sense at this price to get this to use for desktop and use the Qudelix as a DAC? Any advantage?

I think you would see a significant improvement with the 400se. They need power to show what they are capable of. I have them connected to my class A amp and they sound very good. The Qudelix outputs ~280mW (I think) vs 1.3W with this. The only downside would be not running in a balanced configuration but I think the power gains would still outweigh that, it all depends on your budget I guess.

IMO this is a no-brainer at this price. I picked it up for about $70 a few months ago and I've been happy with it. It's sitting on my desk in front of me right now. Some of the reviews said the thing got hot, but that has not been my experience. I don't think there's anything else out there of this quality, at anywhere near this price.

I picked up one of these around this price from a target deal a while back. It powers my HD6xx nicely, I also have the schiit stack, and I'd say that the schiit stack puts out more power as the HD6xx's get louder from what I can recall. That said, at $55 if you want or need a headphone amp, grab this!

Using this as a preamp for powered speakers. At this price there's zero to complain about. If you need a preamp/switcher/volume control with a bonus headphone amp, this is a no brainer.

Would this be worth getting to plug into a laptop 1/4" output? My daily work setup is I have some Philips SHP9500 with a vmoda mic attached. I assume the mic isnt getting back through this. I have a feeling the answer is no, but I still really want it.

Alex designed it for Mono, I believe.

This is a more-than-acceptable headphone amp for a good price. It's not exactly state of the art and it won't drive the piggiest headphones to earsplitting volumes, but it's plenty for all else.

I'm by no means an expert but i do not believe so, Not directly ( unless it has a built in phono preamp at least ). You would need a phono pre-amp and go from that to this amp.
