Why is it so difficult to find laptops with two USB-C ports?? I bought a Lenovo from the Outlet last year with two USB-C gen 3 ports. It allows simultaneous charging and display, and powers the portable display. It eliminates the need for a dock. Got it for the same price as a lot of these models with the outdated charging ports. Manufacturers need to switch to USB-C entirely. I'll never go back to the old charging ports with proprietary jacks.

I'm holding off on buying one in this price range for that exact reason. I have an old Acer v5 from 2013, all the screws from the bottom have fallen out. It's a i5 with 8gb ram and I recently put a $40 1TB SSD. That thing boots up in less than 5 seconds. I'll keep rocking it until usb c becomes standard on these things.

USB-C charging chips and power management are trickier than the traditional reliable barrel charger since the gauge standards on USB-C are still fluid and changing. Gaming laptops supposedly perform better on barrel charging compared to USB-C.

Accidentally use the wrong USB-C cable/charger combination, and BAM! Computer dies.

Maybe in 2-3 years, there will be a standard. Maybe more so if RISC hardware becomes mainstream in the traditional PC/laptop market.

Included USB-C charger cable lengths usually are very short.

I don't doubt what you're saying. But there are occasionally deals on laptops with two USB C Gen 3 or even Gen 4/Thunderbolt. I saw far more last year, though, and around the same time. The heavy discounts for last year's good models seem to be few and far between. It seems like a step backwards. I'm fine with my Lenovo Idea Pad Pro that I got for $509 from the Outlet for a while longer, but I was really hoping that laptops like mine would become more and more common at this price point.

Pretty good looking specs.
Higher nits would be nice, but this is fine for typical indoor use.

I guess I took for granted that my work laptop has two USB-C ports and an HDMI port. With that being the case, am I correct in thinking that I couldn't power two monitors with this particular laptop while it is charging?

This is another reason I chose a laptop with two USB-C gen 3 ports. I bought a 15' cable and Apple-style power brick that plugs straight into the wall. No large brick halfway across the cable, and I can be quite far from an outlet and be just fine, AND still power my small 15" portable screen. It's a great setup for remote work while traveling. Not as ideal as my new 35" curved widescreen, but it's so portable. I worked for months while traveling using that set up.

You can charge it with its included AC jack/barrel style and simultaneously use the USB-C, but you won't be able to use the USB-C for both charging and display unless you have a monitor that allows you to charge the laptop, which would still necessitate two cables: the monitor power cable and the USB-C.
