Put up maybe 100 of these of the last ten or so years. Never had a defective one. And have never gotten a call about them.

Please look for CFM ratings if you want fan for good air circulation. Average fans are 2500-3000, better one's are 5000-6000
And for high ceiling or large room to for 9000 or more

Why? I don't really know much about ceiling fans, but I'm eyeing this for the 3-bulb light kit

Shopping for ceiling fans is so confusing. I'm looking for 2 new fans which will replace existing lights. Need to be flush mount. Would prefer traditional bulb sockets, but willing to budge on this. Then comes the decision of control. Ideally I'd be able to control light, fan, and fan speed from a wall junction box, but it's never clear if I can do that, or if the remote overrides it, or I need a fancy fan controller switch.

From Fan To Outlet Box
Black + Blue Wires ---------- Black Wire (Hot)
White Wire ------------------- White Wire (Neutral)
Green Wires* ---------------- Green or Bare Wire
(Ground)

these are from the installation manual
https://images.thdstatic.com/cata...b128b6.pdf

the black + blue wire allows separate power switches to control each function.. so during install just hook black to one and blue to the other.. white goes with white

I'm replacing a traditional light with a fan. In addition to this comment be sure the junction box is fan weight rated otherwise it can wiggle itself right off the ceiling.

I didn't see the CFM rating in the product detail page. Am I just overlooking it?

Then comes the decision of control. Ideally I'd be able to control light, fan, and fan speed from a wall junction box, but it's never clear if I can do that, or if the remote overrides it, or I need a fancy fan controller switch.
So you can control fan and light separately from the switch box if you have enough conductors. Inside the wall switch box you'll need an incoming ("line side") cable that has a hot, neutral, and ground, and a cable going to the fan that has two hots, a neutral, and a ground ("load side"). This typically means a 14/3 or 12/3 cable going to the fan that has a black, red, white, and bare wire.

If you don't have that configuration, you can use a universal remote kit that lives in the canopy of the fan with and is controlled with a wireless remote. You can also re-wire, which isn't too difficult when you have an attic.

If the wiring is there (or you put it there) and the fan electrical box is rated for a ceiling fan, you can get a few different switches. The Lutron Maestro fan and light dimmer, the Lutron Diva light and three speed fan switch, and the Lutron Skylark are some good single gang options but your local home store has plenty more. The former two require deep-ish electrical boxes.

If you really want to get into it, I recommend cutting a single gang box into a two gang box and having two separate switches. This gives you a lot more options for control and opens up the possibility of smart switches. It is definitely a little more involved though.

But no matter what you do, ensure that your ceiling box is fan-rated and mounted properly. I recently installed some ceiling fans in place of existing lights for someone. I cut out the old boxes and used the Raco 294 to screw into the same joist. Solid as a rock when you get it installed level, and pops right into the place where the old box was.

Anyway, hope that helps.
