Second, the SF airport is in San Mateo, around 20 miles south of SF. It is the most convenient international airport on the West Coast for travel to Asia. LA is larger but more hectic. Apparently, there is no much Asia to NY traffic as well on these dates.
SF is in decay, I agree. The big tech moved to Texas and there are no more conferences in the city, no more high tech glamour. It might be for good, they were pushing costs for everyone through the roof. Meanwhile, the tech income didn't disappear, people still make a load of money. The real wealth is in South Bay, everyone is at least a millionaire.
I used to love to visit SF, but I still do, but now like once a year, lol! It's nasty and lots of grossness in the main public areas, but once you get out of that, it's like all cities. Something nice. What's wrong with SF and 5he metros of CA are all political and issues. Living in CA made me red pill... So I just go to CA every other month... Live out of state. Even though I have flown there 2 x a month the last couple and it's not stopping just yet. CA is finally calming down and I hope they get rid of Gaven, but not to 5he us president as they will be pushing for in NoV... Gaven Newsom is terrible. Do not fall for 4he smile
Me smells some hypocrisy.. Yes, both cites are horrible, I can understand wanting to fly away from one, but to go into the other??? Ick.
Again, the rules still apply.
I don't venture into NYC much anymore though. It always smells like weed 😅

I've been there 3 times within in the past year and have not had issues of any sort.
If you are afraid to travel because you "heard" that a city is bad/dangerous/etc then you will probably never visit any of the major cities....

SF obviously has issues just like any other city, and also other issues most other cities don't face (tech millionaires/billionaires + cops unwilling to do their real jobs).
people here don't even know that the airport is nowhere near SF shows that they're consuming what they know about SF from media purposely set out to scare you about walking into a city. what're you even doing posting in here anyways? not like any of you are from NYC anyways.
Despite what tabloids say, nice areas are still beautiful. SF billionaires and tech millionaires haven't left for a reason.

No matter how some of you posters spin it, facts are SF will not recover to pre Covid levels for many years, if ever. The thrill is gone.

I'm from CA, and lived in SF and just south on the peninsula for many years. We've got some strange weather these days, but traditionally August can be cold in SF depending on the fog, etc. Any local knows that...
I get covered with the Karl everyday at 4pm. I would know when the whether is nice or not for the rest of SF.
The listed travel dates (Late August ~ Early October) is when SF has the hot days and less variance in temperature fluctuations.
During early and Mid August, you get extreme temperature differences due to heat creating extra water vapors and blanketing over the bay. You have less of that during late August and early fall. So you get more consistently warm weather. That's why I specified late August.
Any local would know that there's microclimate and temperature changes depending on the neighborhood and seasons/days.
