These any better?

Limited-time deal: Govee Bluetooth Hygrometer Thermometer, Wireless Thermometer, Mini Humidity Sensor with Notification Alert, Data Storage and Export, 262 Feet Connecting Range, 2 Pack https://a.co/d/1b5XKzy
Why would these be better? They have the same accuracy, are more expensive, no screen, replacement battery is uncommon (a.k.a more expensive), etc.

Air Quality sensors are the new hotness.

And you want wifi not bluetooth so they can do their own thing without any phone support.

I have a few of these Govee thermometer. No issues other than I only have Govee lights, so they don't really interact with each other, haha.

I moved over to SwitchBot stuff since they have power switches and motion detection as well all under the same app.

Smaller could be a benefit on where you use them.

I have a number of these as well.
Since they are BT BLE, they just broadcast their readings out every minute or so.

Those who have Home Assistant can read these values right into HA:

What's the range. On the bt ble? My ha box is in my basement... I want to monitor things across the house.

Can these be used without the app?

I definitely do not want any more intrusive apps on my devices. But I do like the idea of temp tracking.

Govee makes quality stuff, but they need to integrate their sensors into other ecosystems more fully before I will be buying more. This sensor reports to their app, but that's as far as it can go due to a lack of integrations by Govee.

In my experience Govee makes some essentially knockoff-ish stuff.

Their branding for their smart lights looks exactly like copycat Philips Hue and their lighting is extremely sub-par compared to the competition.

Out of curiosity, what do you do when temperatures drop into the range where your pipes freeze? Serious question. Turn on the heat? Run some water?
Depends on where the pipes are.

In cold zones, building pipes are at least 3' below the ground, with a frost line being typically 24". This means that where they come out of the ground you run something like heat tape.

Above ground, you can insulate and they have pipe insulation (foam) at your home stores. But that's mostly to save energy as the cold will seep in.

In the house/structure, you can open your cabinets to allow more heat to hit the external walls where the pipes are, or just let the water steadily drip. The ground water is coming up at 57F (give or take) so can take a bit to freeze down to 32F and the steady drip keeps the water in the pipe warmer.

Exposed faucets should be covered. Irrigation pipes drained.

Not sure about RV black water tanks.

I have the hygrometer. The one without the screen and you can monitor the temp/humidity through their app. Battery lasts for like 2 months top.

If you're not set on the govee brand, and you're looking for something small, I would recommend a xiaomi mijia hygrometer. Search for "lywsd03mmc"

These are tiny (1.5" square, less than 0.5" thick) and can be had for $6~7 on ebay (they use to be under $5 each), has a display screen, and uses common cell batteries CR2032. I've had mine for over 2 years and just changed the battery last week on one of them.

I find the display extremely useful. It's so much faster to just glance at the screen if you're already there instead of having to take out your phone, open the app, and wait for it to read the BLE signal.

There's also a way to customize the firmware on these xiaomi devices for advanced users. It's not for everyone but the option is there if you're interested in going that route.
