Pretty good price, considering it's on sale on Monoprice's website[monoprice.com] for $90. The shown regular price of $178 is a joke (it may have been listed at that price at one time on target.com, but Monoprice's MSRP is $140).
Note that for some reason, the subwoofer on the box in the last picture on Target's website shows a narrow sub with curved sides, but that is for an older version (it's somewhat confusing in that this model is noted as 109723 vs the old model 9723, but on Monoprice's website itself it's referred to as the 9723). This is a standard sub with straight sides. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any reviews of the current model; all reviews I found online are for the previous version.
Also note: don't be fooled into thinking that since this is a 12" sub that it's some high quality component. It's strictly entry level, it will work and sound "fine" with entry level surround-sound speakers in the $300-$500 range, and at this price, I'd bet you can't beat it. But it's not high quality by any means.

This is a clearance sale price. If you try to ship something this big and heavy the shipping alone is going to cost $35.00. Monoprice probably ordered a large batch and is taking up space. I'll buy one or even two at this price if I'm moving into a second or seasonal home. 2 150W subwoofer is better than one 300W subwoofer IMHO. It's about placement.
I'm surprised none of the pictures show the speaker itself or the tuning port.
The driver fires out the front and is covered by a black cloth grill. A 3 1/2" sound port is positioned underneath the enclosure.
This is a decent subwoofer and at the lowest prixe I've ever seen. Totally worth it. Why would someone downvote this?
Just because something is cheap does not make it a worthwhile purchase especially when it needs to perform. the manufacturer has purposely not included a +/- range for the spec which indicates that it does not perform with a flat response within the frequency response range.

Other people have priorities that do not align with your perspective. Sorry mate

I've this subwoofer for about 6 months now, and don't have the standby hum some have complained about. I've always wondered if they were just using bad cables or something.

If you don't use it in a quiet room, should be fine. It's not a loud hum.. but personally just more than I was willing to put up with in an office.
