Note that for some reason, the subwoofer on the box in the last picture on Target's website shows a narrow sub with curved sides, but that is for an older version (it's somewhat confusing in that this model is noted as 109723 vs the old model 9723, but on Monoprice's website itself it's referred to as the 9723). This is a standard sub with straight sides. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any reviews of the current model; all reviews I found online are for the previous version.
Also note: don't be fooled into thinking that since this is a 12" sub that it's some high quality component. It's strictly entry level, it will work and sound "fine" with entry level surround-sound speakers in the $300-$500 range, and at this price, I'd bet you can't beat it. But it's not high quality by any means.

If you don't use it in a quiet room, should be fine. It's not a loud hum.. but personally just more than I was willing to put up with in an office.

The driver fires out the front and is covered by a black cloth grill. A 3 1/2" sound port is positioned underneath the enclosure.
