It's already been stated the rebate can be fully completed ONLINE but if clicking a few pages and uploading a couple photo's is to much work for you don't buy it.

Don't be blinded by "GEN 4"...

This is GEN 3 speeds.
Matters for PS 5. Still generally fast enough.

All the ssd has to say is Gen 4 and it will work fine? I thought speeds mattered for compatible drives...

Lol I bought a 2TB m.2 (albeit it was a Samsung 970 Evo) for $400 in 2020 these things have really come down in price.
That's why you should never buy anything so expensive.

Does anyone know if this is compatible with my laptop: hp pavilion 15-cr0010nr x360.
I know it has an M.2 slot, but not sure if it's PCIe compatible. TIA

Hard to beat a $30 (after rebate) Gen 4 1TB SSD. The rebate can also be submitted completely online by uploading an image of the receipt and an image of one side of the packaging the ssd comes in.

TIP: An easy way to use up the total balance on "rebate credit cards" is just apply whatever balance it has to prepaying a utility like electricity, car insurance etc..then you can specify the exact amount even if it ends up an odd amount or less that $1.
The last time I got one of these rebate cards, I just bought an Amazon gift card with it and applied it to my Amazon account. You can buy those with an arbitrary value and it will just stay on your Amazon account until you use it.

Yup. Just need to get an m.2 enclosure with a USB port and put the m.2 inside it. Then you can plug it into a computer via USB.

Lemorele M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure Tool Free USB C External PCIe B+M/M-Key Hard Drive Enclosure 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 M.2 Reader Support Max 2TB w/UASP Trim, for 2230/2242 /2260/2280 SSDs, Aluminum https://a.co/d/7mli55P

Something like this. Note I'm not recommending this one per se, I just linked ya the first one on Amazon after a search for what you need. I don't know this brand and I encourage you to look at reviews before you buy one.
Reviews of all M.2 enclosures say they keep disconnecting when they get hot.

I can't remember where I read it but it was pointed out that enclosure that slide open/closed means they do not come in direct contact with the drive. This means an air gap is preventing most of the heat from being transferred away from the drive. I ended up getting this Sabrent enclosure because it folds open/close and has a thermal pad. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RVC6F9Y/

1.0 out of 5 stars Constant disconnecting
Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2022

When I connected my 970 Evo Plus with this enclosure, I was getting about 400MB/s write speed, but it would randomly disconnect when doing large writes. Sometimes it would disconnect halfway through, sometimes near the beginning of the write. I don't believe this is a thermal issue, because it was disconnecting while just barely warm.

I noticed that mine looks different internally than every other picture I've seen of this enclosure, but I unscrewed the board to ensure that it had the RTL9210B that everyone loves. It does, and is still not usable at all for some reason. I even bought a new 10Gbps USB cable and added my own thermal pads, because I really wanted it to work, with no success. The quality control "PASS 2" sticker seems to be laughing at me at this point.

Ultimately I returned it and bought an external SSD that was *made for USB* because I'm now hesitant with the whole market of NVMe enclosures, which still seems young and hit-or-miss. The fact that we're talking about the controller chip on our adapters seems to be evidence of that.

Edit: A little more info here. I did update the firmware and nothing changed about the disconnection issue. Also, shortly after I posted this review, the price reduced from $28 to $22. My intuition says that Sabrent is aware of the issue with the new supply of enclosures and tried to reduce the price to a "not worth the effort of returning" range, so they can still keep some profits selling paperweight bricks. Be careful out there guys

1.0 out of 5 stars Likely Incompatible with DRAM-less SSDs
Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2023

I got this enclosure for my WD Black SN770 2TB SSD, which is a DRAM-less SSD. Using this enclosure and a USB 3.2 gen 2 port on any PC, the transfer frequently locks up and freezes any applications using the drive. A data copy that should have taken less than 20 minutes took over 12 hours because of this. Plugging it into USB 3.2 gen 1 (equivalent to USB 3.0) works fine, but I had to use my own cable for that since the gen 1 ports I have are only type-A, and they only provide a type-C to type-C cable. Trying a different, older SSD, that one seemed to work fine on USB 3.2 gen 2, but that one has DRAM and is only 256 GB. Getting a replacement resulted in the same issue with the transfer locking on the SN770. It is rather disappointing that SABRENT failed to think about DRAM-less SSDs when designing this product, or they should have included a USB type-A cable and said it only works with USB 3.2 gen 1 at 5 Gbps.

1.0 out of 5 stars This ISN'T it
Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2020

The enclosure does not meet the basic requirement of a portable storage device. Let me explain,
I had purchased this enclosure to repurpose my 256GB NVME SSD (SKhynix OEM) from my laptop when I upgraded to a 2TB NVME SSD as my laptop had only 1 NVME slot.

To summarize the problem with this drive is a sentence, It's extremely UNSTABLE period.

It's unstable to the point that you are better off trusting your $3 flash drive than using this. The device gets ejected randomly. And by randomly I mean randomly, you are playing a video from the drive and suddenly it stops playing and the device gets ejected, you are copying a file and the transfer will stop abruptly because the device got ejected, and you might as well forget playing games using this enclosure, even if the drive is idle, it will get ejected in sometime. And the worst part is that when a drive gets ejected the only way to reconnect is to physically disconnect the connector and reconnect it back to the USB port. I first thought there might be a problem with the cable, but unfortunately the cable was fine (checked with other external SSDs and enclosures). Then I thought, it might be a defective unit as a reputable manufacturer like Sabrent (late realization: not really reputable) would not product such a device, so I order a replacement. And I was dead wrong, the replacement had the exact same issue that I had with the first one, so the design itself is faulty. The generic NVME to USB 3.1 gen2 and this device uses the same bridge chip from JMicron but some how Sabrent managed to mess things up. I did call the customer care of Sabrent to check if they had any way to fix things via a firmware update or any other techniques, the person was apparently half asleep and had no clue about this device.

I've tried the exact same SSD in exact same conditions (same data) with other generic enclosures in the market and I've had much better luck there. Not to mention that they cost half of what this costs. It's a shame as the metal body of the enclosure looks and feels good but that's where the goodness of this device ends.

I think all gen 4 will work regardless of speed. Sony just recommends 5,500.

Good rule of thumb is to stick with the ones that come WITH a thermal pad or failing that get one where you can ADD a thermal pad that gives contact between the ssd and the metal enclosure when closed.

1) Mailing in is optional. It can also be completed online.
2) Apparently enough people disagreed with you that this went frontpage.
