This game is on PS Extra. Still one of the best looking games this gen.
Ya I paid $75 for Extra when it was on sale because I had planned to buy this game anyway - so it pretty much paid for itself over Essential. And then a year to play/try and bunch of other games, including some I would have bought on a deep sale anyway.
I platinumed DeS on the PS3 and now again on the PS5. Nothing has ever come close to experiencing this game for the first time. Other souls games just didn't have that same mystique - and the sheer terror of what's around each corner or what you're going to see when you step through that fog wall.
Excellent game, well worth this price. Started a 10-year obsession with Fromsoft games for me (and still going, really...) It's also the best-looking PS5 game I've played yet, although I haven't played any of the other exclusives (just multi-generation titles -- this makes Elden Ring PS5 look a generation behind.)
If you are new to Souls games don't be surprised if you are very frustrated the first 10 hours of playing this. Try to push through and learn the mechanics (watch a youtube video if you need to about rolling, blocking, parrying, etc). Once you get the gist of these games they often become favorites and there is a huge library of games to try.

Brought this game at $25 during Thanksgiving 2022. I was completely new to Souls games and got very frustrated. There's no save in middle of the game and have to restart the chapter every time you die. Great gameplay and graphics, but the play style is not for everyone IMO.
Yeah. It's still the same basic combat that was in the PS3 version, but the animations and graphics are better than any other FS game including Elden Ring.
Agree with this. Haptics and sound were also well done and truly feels like a PS5 game. Wish Elden Ring had the same treatment.

This is a great tip. Don't let the frustration of learning the game get to you. The game is well worth it and very fun.
These games don't drop like that. This is the lowest you're going to see this for years. FromSoftware games hold their value for over 5 years.
For years??? Highly doubt that. This is a Bluepoint game, which is a company now owns by Sony. I would say it will be $25 or maybe even $20 by Black Friday. It's a great game and well worth it at $29, but if you can wait, then wait.

I gave up on Bloodbourne, but I beat Elden Ring. I got to the boss that can de-level you toward the end of this game. My anxiety about getting de-leveled stopped me from progressing 😂

Almost everyone feels like this game style is not for them the first few hours. It's more of an acquired taste, but many of those same people that are ready to quit early on end up absolutely loving the souls games.
I started out with Elden Ring and the first 15-20 hours were frustrating af and I couldn't understand why people loved these games... but now they are some of my favorite games of all time.
Loved this game. A few more tips for Souls first timers:
- Using a guide will help you get the most out of the game and avoid accidentally locking yourself out of NPCs/Items/Areas
- Thinking of this as rhythm game can be helpful, so much of success has to do with learning enemies' moves and timing.
- There is no wrong way to play, just don't give up: Use a build guide to make yourself super strong, cheese a boss that you're stuck on, grind until you're overpowered… You can always start a new save or play NG+ if you feel like you made things too easy for yourself.
- There is a general difficulty progression, but don't be afraid to jump around levels if you get stuck or frustrated with the same part of an area.
No sorry I don't know how to describe it 😆... I picked the ranger, and the guy swinging the ax takes like 4 seconds for each swing, ridiculous animation, and it's not very variable, two swing options, no combos. Just doesn't seem as polished as other hack and slash style games
You sound like you come from playing devil may cry and bayonetta, great games for sure... But if you're playing demon souls with that mindset, you're going to have a bad time really quick
Amazing graphics. Sort of clunky gameplay but once you learn and improve stats and wear correct armor etc its a little better.
You will die and you will be frustrated. You must learn as you go as to how to survive etc.
It will be fun as hell as soon as you past the first level and begin to level up your stats and learn your character playstyle.
I bought it I think at launch for 59.99 as a first time player. Sunk 100s of hours into it and started a few different characters. It will be fun once you get over the initial frustration.
Sold it for 40 a year later. Still miss playing it. The graphics are really jawdropping and this is a PS5 launch title.

Profound sadness...

Really? Elden Ring looked great on Xbox SX.
