Did Amazon quietly raise the minimum order threshold for free shipping? It was $25 a few weeks ago. Now they're adding shipping charges since this SD card costs less than $35. Not seeing anything in the news...
Yes, a sneaky up-charge. They didn't announce it, they just slid it in there hoping no one would notice...

1-2 weeks ago it was $25. I was about to place an order last night for $29.xx and it told me I had to add more. The big lie is that EVERY price on Amazon already has the shipping cost built in so this is just a little bit profiteering.

I really wish they would break amazon up so we had more choices, but they've (amazon) driven almost all stores out of business, and no one in our worthless government has tried to stop Bozos. The payoffs must be too good....

Good price - are there still counterfeit issues when you buy microSD cards from Amazon?
I grabbed this a month or so ago at a slightly higher price. I used the Samsung authenticator and it was legit.

Great quality by Samsung, I've had a once-over-$100 256gb Micro SD for almost a decade, with or without the adapter, not a single issue at all. My concern is the reading/writing speed, for today V60/V90 would be a better choice.

It's shown $28, but the price went back to $35 upon checkout

Is this better than 256gb Evo card i currently have (in terms of speed etc)
It beats the write speed on the EVO Plus by a bit. Read is about the same.

But that's the EVO Plus. I imagine more-so with just the regular EVO (non-Plus) version.

I had a similar experience and just recently had to return a Samsung card purchased from Amazon that was clearly different from the Best Buy model, and had all the red flags people warn about online. Amazon is not worth the counterfeit risk and return hassle for memory cards.

$5 more for the one with the USB adapter. That one will not be counterfeit. The adapter is easily worth $5.

I took your advice, not because I was worried about counterfeit memory though. That's easily checkable with Samsung's program. I check my many Samsung products and none were counterfeit. I think the problem was that vulnerabilities existed with Amazon's inventory. For example:
- returns put back into the same bin (a bad person could have bought 50 real ones and returned 50 bad ones)
- Amazon Marketplace suppliers could have put in large inventories of counterfeit memory and Amazon put all the same-code products into the same bin

But for $5, that SDXC reader could be valuable. For example, as we upgrade SDXC sizes, we'll have a lot of leftovers. Now they'll be USB memory sticks for an extra $5. Plus, the Samsung reader should be pretty fast and reliable, rather than getting a $8-$10 ZHANG FNX brand.

They have always had different thresholds for different item categories.
Like which categories? I have placed ~180 orders over the past ~2 years for all types of items from electronics to automotive and the threshold was always the same.
