That's one perspective.

A different one is that all furniture is inflated and expensive. Depending on your use case, it might make sense to spend less money on particle board than California red oak and bald eagle bone furniture.

A college dorm is inherently ephemeral. Makes sense to spend less there and save money for post-collegiate life.

A children's bedroom or playroom. They destroy everything they touch, so don't overspend for seal blubber treated desks when a cheap particle board one will do the trick.

A guest bedroom which is empty 90% of the time.

The list goes on. IKEA has its place.

If you sign up for the free ikea family card you get 5% off, I don't know if it stacks with this. There used to be a movers coupon you could get but I don't remember how, maybe in the usps change of address pack?

It'll be pretty slick if you can stack this 15% with the family card 5% + mover coupon + recent gift card deal.

can finally used the gift card+bonus from last year. IDASEN sit stand desk is super stable and goes pretty low for us short folks!

I'm buying the underframe and finding a table top elsewhere.

I've had the under frame for about 3 years now and it works great. I use it every day as I have an under desk treadmill so I can walk while working. I did the same as you plan to do where we had an old bakers table so I used the top from it as the top for the desk. I feel like the IKEA particleboard tops are too expensive.

Pretty sure the IKEA Family 5% won't stack with the 15% off teacher/student deal. I did the eat for free deal a few weeks back and there was no additional 5% off on my receipt.

I think the USPS has really tamped down mover coupon deals. Just did a change of address last month and they barely gave any coupons out.
