Yeah I got this when it came around last time for $85. It is actually pretty good. Some thoughts:

No heated bed -- this means you can only print PLA and bed adhesion is sometimes an issue -- you will want to print rafts or use a gluestick
Line the bed with blue painter's tape -- it comes with masking tape but only two pieces
It is small but you can print most things on it 100x100x110 is like a 4 inch cube
It is a rebranded Weedo TINA2 -- you can flash that firmware on it without an issue
You want to get a spool holder (like those stands with rollers on them) because the spool holder is pathetic
When you get a spool of filament -- DO NOT LET THE LOOSE END FREE it will spin around and tangle up. Hold the end or stick it in the side or tape it or something if it is not in the extrude -- trust me on this
The bed auto-level is pretty awesome
It is pretty much plug-and-play -- get some STL files on thingverse and slice them with the included cura software and put it on the SD card and print -- easy peasy

Used BIG30 and added 3 kg filament and it came out to $100 total, $63 for the printer, $7 shipping and $10 per kg of filament

This is dead. No codes work.

Edit... The code in OP "MP15" is dead and so is "BIG30" however "15MP" now works.

According to the Big30 promo page this printer is supposed to be eligible. https://www.monoprice.com/pages/mobile_BIG30 if you click 3D Printers you'll see it listed.

I contacted customer service and they applied the promo manually after placing order at the full price of 89.99.

They said they would report to their marketing team. That could either mean they will remove it from the promo page or add it back as an eligible item.

My order was 65.67 with tax shipped.
I suggest doing live chat after ordering with the promo code big30 and no discount and asking for refund of difference since I don't know if they are going to add the item to the code or remove it from the marketing page.

Edit: looks like they did in fact remove the item from the promo page I linked above. However it is still listed as an eligible item in this Big30 "Details" page. So you might still have luck with that as an argument with customer service.

Haha, they sure did huh... Jerks! figured thats what would happen. They still have it in the detailed item list though. Might still be able to make an argument for it via customer service by pointing them to the following link. This is the "Details" link you get when attempting to use BIG30 as a coupon code in the cart.

Is it possible to put some sort of heat source underneath it like a lamp to get the bed semi warm?

I was thinking about that and you can get a beated plate -- the motherboard even has a heat bed pin header so it should be able to control it with some firmware hackery, but I figured it really isn't worth it.

Got it last time. Malfunctioned the first day and wouldn't auto calibrate itself correctly and was printing everything slightly to the left. Already refunded. It was fun while it lasted though!

Thanks OP. Been wanting to break into 3d printing without having to assemble. Wanted small form factor without dealing with resin. The price is perfect to test the waters. In for one.

Can someone who purchased this recently confirm whether there is a heated bed?

The product page says yes in places, but reviews (some of which are years old) say no. Not sure if it's just sloppy data or they're selling a slightly different model now.

Is this a good "starter" 3D printer? Never used one before but would like to tinker around. Kids are interested in this as well. At this price point, is it so limited in usefulness to not be a good idea?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but 100mm IS NOT 39 INCHES
