Not much since it's been over a year. The Ally is gonna be pumping out refurbished units even faster with the rate of returns on those things

Yup, I agree with this completely. Just get the base unit and upgrade the SSD.

Yes it's worth it for a perfect good refurbished unit. Abused? I mean yeah maybe someone dropped the refurbished one, maybe someone dropped the new one at the factory too. Not worth guessing at possibilities and maybes, the saved money is real and the quality of refurbs is generally very high.

properly refurbished products with generally have a higher reliability than new since they are about of the infant mortality window on the reliability curve.

it includes 1 year warranty you have 14 days to return it according to valve.

These can start having issues with APU/Motherboard/Fan/Battery/Sticks/Buttons

Already have one and would love another, but Steam doesn't allow my kids and I to reasonably play two games from my library at once. Really pointless to have more than one Steam Deck.

Yeah ssd don't go the micro SD route. I got a 64gb deck and a 1tb card. Downloads mostly suck super slow and some games but super minor are just better with the SSD. Main problem is download speeds

I picked up an ally anyways as the way better screen and the little more fps is nice to have.

At $319 plus a SSD though steamdeck is just an awesome device in general. All handhelds aren't perfect but easier to look past the flaws when it's by far cheapest PC handheld
