Probably referring to the shortage of rice and grains exports from other countries. Just guessing.

India is the second largest producer of rice

On July 20, India's government announced that it would stop exporting non-basmati white rice, effective immediately. This led to a huge demand and price gouging in the US.

This is good rice but I like their "chefs special" version more. Extra long grain. A step up from this, too bad it's never on sale.

Yeah, noticed that all the sona masoori as well as basmati was out at multiple Costco locations. It's like a repeat of the toilet paper shortage from 2020 again even if the supply holds steady.
