I've had one that has been rock steady but my dad got one that was doa because the battery wouldn't charge and we had it repaired by authorized dealer and broke again a year later customer service has been very bad finally got them to fix it had shipping issues sent it back fixed but won't boot windows now.

Any opinions on which is better for business use, this i7 or the cheaper Acer Aspire i5 also on sale?

The Lenovo's extra vertical 120pixels (16:10) of screen makes a marginal difference for something like Excel?

Depending on various factors -- BIOS settings, manufacturers' heat management/CPU throttling -- difficult to know which CPU will perform better in real world for office productivity.

Lenovo's battery is more robust -- 56.6Wh vs 50Wh -- and so is the chassis -- Alu vs plastic. Acer has thunderbolt.

Hard to tell if the slight extra screen space of the Lenovo makes a difference with apps/programs compared to the Acer. Might, might not for certain people.

It seems to come down to does the extra cost ($100) justify the slight bump in speed of the i7 over the i5, the very slight bump in screen size (16 inch over 15.6 inch), smaller NVNe drive, aluminum case over plastic, slight bump in battery capacity, and the lack of a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port on the Lenovo. Finding specific details about other specifications of the Acer is difficult due to the limited info on the Acer site about what exactly the laptop has in the way of specifications beyond generic information. Not much in the way of user reviews for either laptop. And the other slickdeal thread on the Acer got quickly sidetracked into a discussion on nits.

Just picked up the Lenovo yesterday in store, may purchase the Acer for delivery next week. Will report back if so.

For sausage fingers, I noticed the Lenovo alphanumeric key section appears slightly narrower; Acer has a numpad config that is 3 columns instead of Lenovo's 4. [This will be 2nd Lenovo & Acer in recent years at these price points; though completely subjective, I have slight preference for the Lenovo key travel & touchpad feel at this price point.]

By Gen3 do you mean PCIe 3.0? Lenovo indicates (link [lenovo.com]):
"Storage 512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe® 4.0x4 NVMe®"
"Storage Slot One M.2 2280 PCIe® 4.0 x4 slot".

When I looked at this Lenovo in my local warehouse yesterday it indicated the storage drive was a; "WD PC SN740 SDDPMQD-512G-1101". (fixed typo)

Any additional comments on this laptop after a few days of owning or using it? Good things, bad things?
