The negative pressure is because the unit includes some intake vents at the mid-level of the unit which allow air into the condenser side. This might be there as a backup intake in case the intake hose is blocked. I've taken one apart and don't see any issue with taping these intake vents closed. Then you should have zero negative pressure. However, I don't think it's a big deal, as I agree with the other poster that the negative pressure is many orders of magnitude less than single hose models.

The one downside with these units is that the inverter compressor makes a bit of a repetitive high pitched noise. You can search Youtube for examples. Midea's other inverter models also make the same noise.

In addition, I've gotten two of these refurbs from Woot and both were clearly used, with scratches and mold. Hopefully their vendor has upped their refurbishment QA.

I tried the heating and it works quite well. I believe intake air has to be above freezing for the heating to work. Further, you need to drain the condensate in heat mode.
The one I got last time Woot had these on sale came with window kit. Also comes with an adapter for a sliding window if you have one.

How would this work cooling a 2-car garage home office?
Should work without issue as long as you have a window for the vent. I use mine in a detached office behind my house. If it gets really cold at night, I will leave the heat running over night and pull the unit away from the wall to prevent the unit from freezing and needing to thaw out. I have set it up with the Google Home routine to turn the unit and lights on when I wake up so that the office is cooled and ready to go and the same for heat if it's cool outside.

Not a year ago, this was $300.

Yes, I love this AC. It is so efficient. It normally runs around 300w maintaining the set temperature. It can go as high as 1200w at full force. The inverter compressor is amazing.

I bought it last September on Woot for $330 and used it only for heating. It works well in North California. It pumps out water without a problem. About every 2-3 days need to dump the 12Qt basket.

Bought this from woot last time at $300. Mine was clearly used with gouges and broken fins. Mine works to cool but the condensation is ridiculous. Every 30 minutes I have to drain manually cuz the pump doesn't work like advertised

I have the Midea Duo from Costco which is supposedly the same unit. My Midea has the P1 problem and I have to use the top drain for it to be functional. I am tempted to purchase this one since Costco is OOS for units in my area and I can't RMA it.

Note that this item may be shipped via specialty carrier and here is Woot's return policy on such items:
Heavy/bulky items
For items shipped by a specialty carrier (CEVA, ABF, Pilot) there is a flat $50 return fee.

Costco shipped theirs with a specialty. Does anyone know if Woot ships via UPS/Fedex?

Any thoughts on using this in a three car garage to cool a garage gym? I'm thinking of having the single garage door slightly open for the vent hose.

Mine doesn't do that but instead turns off by itself. I might have a defective unit I wouldn't know until 2 months of usage from now.
I bought a Hisense portable ac unit dual hose from Costco. Mine requires to have a drain hose attached to the botton outlet otherwise it would turn off I think.

I have the same one and ended up return because too noisy. I bought the Media duo inverter and much happier.

Same here the one I got was super used looking and the parts were all scratched, returned it. Tubes were bent and a lot of stuff was chipped. It should be listed more as "used" vs refurbished, it is not a good refurbish.

Would this be more energy efficient than a space heater?
It would depend on how cold it is...40+ it is easily more efficient. You do have to worry about draining the unit in heat mode. Below freeze it might be a little problematic depending on their design choices.

Basically I lean towards using other methods of heating, but the ac function is great. I don't want to worry about the potential window issues(moisture and temp transfer). Anyways I find the saving minimal compared to using an electric heater with auto off at reasonable temps.

Use cases many differ.

I had the same experience. Mine arrived basically loose in a box that wasn't even sealed or tied shut. It was bad enough that the UPS driver asked me if I wanted to refuse delivery. When I opened it I found a few broken thin pieces of Styrofoam was all the protection they included.

Mine was scratched and had fins dented. It didn't seem to cool very well and also collected a lot of condensation, which I read was abnormal in cooling mode. It may have been the size of the room or just the outside temperature being much too high for it, but I left it on all day and it didn't seem to cool the room at all. The air it blew out was cool, but not cold. The remote was also pretty filthy. I ended up returning it, which was a hassle given the size of the thing and the packaging it came in. I did get all my money back from woot, though.
