I posted this deal, because it's a good price for the G30P, and this is being sold as "new", not refurbished, but beware that Woot is not an authorized seller for Segway (which is weird, because Amazon is an authorized seller and they own Woot). So what? Its my understanding that Segway won't honor their manufacturer warranty unless purchased from an authorized retailer.
Just wanted to make everyone aware of the risk. I see the risk as relatively low, because this model is highly reliable; built like a tank, unlike cheaper brands (e.g. Hiboy). In addition, it comes with the 90 day Woot warranty and you can purchase an additional 2-year warranty through Asurion via Amazon.

I was 250 lbs + and have been riding the scooter without any problems. I would just be careful jumping off curbs and big bumps. The welds seem sturdy enough. Not sure if the weight is for the motor or the welds.
Nothing negative about the OP deal. Honestly, I'm not sure what the G30P Max even sells for anymore... but I just wanted to point out that it uses $1k as the retail price to reference, however, Segway is selling their (IMO - much nicer) P65 model for $1k - direct from Segway[segway.com].
I bought a P65 and really like it. It's over 60 lbs, so it's not something you really want to be carrying around, but compared to many of the other e-scooters I see coming out of China, the Segways, and esp the Segway P Series scooters (as well as the GTs), are made/engineered much nicer. The Segway's seem to be the Honda/Acuras of the e-scooter world.
Maybe the OP can opine - why would you choose the G30P at $600 over the P65 at $1,000, for ex?

It comes down to cost-to-value and what you specifically need/want. Answers to those questions are unique for each person. I'm getting the G30 for my son who's heading off to college later this month and he'll have to carry it up to his second floor apartment, which at 40lbs is doable. Generally speaking, G30 is a proven durable design, you can modify the firmware to reach 20mph+ speeds, and even add front suspension, but those won't be needed for my son. He doesn't need anything nicer than the G30, in fact, I was going to get him the newer G30LP when it was on sale for $470 earlier this week, but price went back up before I pulled the trigger. I'm sure he'll appreciate the extra range of the G30 anway.
Of course you can always spend more for something better. Obviously the P65 is much better than the G30, as is the $1000 G2. In fact, some people prefer the G2 over the P65 for it's suspension and lighter weight, but I don't want to get into a scotter debate. To each his own. I posted this deal because it's $100-200 cheaper than what the G30 normally sells for, so for those that know what they want/need and have been eyeing the G30, I hope they benefit from the deal post.

How about 400 reasons to buy the cheaper one that is still plenty for most buyers.

Well, it's obviously cheaper and your reply just doesn't address value. I mean, I can post a $300 scooter and then somebody else could say, why not buy the OP's $600 scooter and then you can say the same thing "I have $300 reasons why." That response just doesn't address the question, other than the OPs scooter is less expensive.

Fair enough - and I TU'ed your response. I think your response basically points out that you have a specific scenario (college campus, probably flat - limited range and speed), and not only that, you don't want to buy something $400 more in case it gets stolen, since your son will most likely be leaving it places (I'm assuming you're buying or already have a decent lock for this scooter).
The above said, glad you posted the deal. I think this scooter does make sense for your use scenario, but I also think (IMO) the P65 is worth the extra $400 vs this in many other scenarios.
EDIT - and one other note. I do see the G30P is selling for $800 on Segway.com's website, so I TU'ed the deal as well. At $200 less than Segway.com, the Woot price is clearly a good deal on this specific model.

They were both $699 2 weeks ago from bestbuy. From little reading I did
+G30 has earned it's reliability record
+G30 comes with the self healing in the tires already
+G30 is notably lighter
-P65 has higher weight capacity at 260 or close to that
-P65 has indicators/blinkers
-P65 has more standing real estate
-P65 is a newer model (theorethical improvement YoY?)
Even at same price, I was not convinced on the P65 but at $599, i ordered this yesterday.

Are you stating that the P65 was $699 at Best Buy 2 weeks ago? Please send me a link to where the P65 was posted for $699. It retails around $1,500 and was recently reduced to $1k on Segway's website. I've never seen it lower than a few buck less than a thousand.
Also, your list basically leaves out important criteria such as power and speed, as well as max distance (in economy mode for ex).

So, I posted the frontpage P65 $1000 deal the day it hit the Segway site back in May or June, so please don't take this as my defending any Segway model over another.
I think you are being a tiny bit unreasonable in your comparison of pros and cons between the P65 and the G30. People have different priorities and while you may value speed (25MPH for P65 vs 20MPH for G30) others do not, or even see it as a detriment because in some states going over 20MPH makes you a different vehicle class and can affect insurance if you get hit by a car (note: I am not a lawyer, please figure out the laws yourself and treat my statement as dubious until then).
For someone coming home from a long day at classes or from work or whatever, having to lug 50+ lbs of uncomfortable gear is a big deal. It doesn't seem like it, but 10 - 12lbs makes a huge difference especially when climbing up stairs.
The P65 is a great scooter, but I think the value of it is really in its commuting ability -- i.e. going from home to an office and back. Whereas someone who wants to use the scooter to go to parties or to the grocery store and throw it in their cart, or maybe not worry so much about having a $1000 scooter get stolen vs one 60% of the price, these are all considerations.
I encourage everyone thinking about purchasing a scooter to evaluate your needs and get what makes the most sense for them.

Thanks to everyone here for the thoughts, experience and reviews. I have been shopping for a while for a scooter and decided to finally pull the trigger on this one. I've never owned a scooter before so I'm jumping in!

Anyone else buy one of these? I grabbed 2 of them for wife and I while camping, can't pull a golf cart and camper. I ordered them last Friday 8/11, looks like it's going to take forever to ship it. 🙄
Amazon Prime shipping has really spoiled us I guess. These look like a lot of fun though! Maybe one day I'll get it. LOL
