It seems that it is a good replacement for my old power hog system. It even comes with Windows 11 Pro. Is it a good price? What do you guys recommend for a energy efficient desktop without the need for gaming?

If you ask this type of question, this desktop is more than what you need

This is a very weak cpu but the price is ok. I wouldn't buy it from this vendor though. Amazon is the place, even if it's $20 more expensive. Much easier to return in the real possibility there is a problem with it. Also note that the Windows licenses that come with these are not exactly kosher. Don't be surprised if you can't perform a clean install without buying a new license.

This is an 11th gen proc for $300. A ripoff

You can get a 12th gen or a 5800H ryzen (SER5 pro) or the like for the similar price.

I would skip this one IMHO.

https://www.amazon.com/Beelink-SER5-Processor-Computer-Three-Screen/dp/B0BS6HTPKG/ref=sr_1_13?crid=T... [amazon.com]

An example for less with more. This is fast enough I bought one for my daughter for college. This thing is very fast and can even do light gaming. It replaced a 8th gen NUC and this thing is 4x faster and cost less than what I paid 4 years ago for the NUC.

Power wise it idles at 8-12 W.

Agreed. GeekBuying ships from China and their policy states that you have to pay for the return shipping. Expect to pay $50+ to return the item to China

Not only that, but some of the PC brands won't honor the warranty unless the machine is bought from their website or Amazon presence. A rep from AceMagician made this clear on Reddit recently. They said that they didn't know how GeekBuying was getting their machines to sell, but they wouldn't be honoring the warranty if they were bought from them.

Meanwhile SD are pimping GB and deleting posts with links to the same machines on Amazon (with warranty).

better than an older ryzen. These Intel procs are stable systems. for this price you cant go wrong imo.

Isn't the possible lack of a full license a concern. Never know where these come from so like to start with a clean install anyways...

Yup. In this case people need to contact the company and ask for the OEM key.

Any recommendations for a mini PC in the $200-$280 range? No gaming. However a lot of office work, programming, video editing, 4k movies etc.

I was initially looking for a desktop, however it seems that these mini PCs are more power efficient and smaller footprint? I have an aging 10th gen i5 HP based desktop. Thanks in advance.

These little PCs look great on paper, but they are often not well designed and are prone to overheating and failing due to quality issues. They also have dodgy Windows licenses. Getting a good brand machine that is perhaps a little bigger is a better idea IMHO. But to be honest, I don't think you'll get anything considerably faster than what you have for under $300. It might be smaller though.

I personally recommend this one, but it's over your budget...

It's interesting that you are not disputing what I'm saying. Also, your warranty page states "Any free repair needs to be confirmed with the manufacturer via Customer Service.". So the manufacturer needs to warranty their machines when sold by you.
