Don't buy it. I am telling you do not buy it. I had a Kenmore grill and it rusted out in record time. I got 2 years out of it. Do not recommend. Especially, at this price? Forget it, you spend a little more get yourself whoever in the last 20 years

So, obviously a typo from using swipe. But what I mean is the Weber lasts 20 years. I thought of editing the comment, and decided against it because I didn't think anyone would be so pedantic.

Meh. Point remains, the burners on this grill are not going to last very long unless you remove them and clean them regularly. Do not recommend Kenmore

Pedantic! Really?

Oh I'm sorry, it wasn't meant to be insulting. You have a good day too. Good luck with whatever grill you buy.

As per https://amazingribs.com/ratings-r...lb-review/, Kenmore is a division of Permasteel.

I am replacing my old Kenmore grill with this one. I bought it 5 years ago expecting to replace it in 2 years, but it has lasted 5 (and I do grill about 2-3 times per week in the summer and once per month in the winter). The only thing wrong is that the original burners and vaporizer bars have rusted out and two wheels bent.

In a realistic scenario:
$300 for 4 years is $75/year
Weber would be $1000 for let's say 20 years is $50/year. However, do you want to keep a grill that long? After 10 years, that grill is going to have plenty of ugly, permanent stains and there may be new feature that you prefer. Also, you will be replacing burners over that 20 year period. So, $1000 for 10 years ($100/year seems more accurate to me)

Is there any reason to prefer the Weber option?

There are several reasons. But first and foremost, I want to address your price misconception. I didn't say buy $1,000 Weber Genesis. Look at a Weber Spirit model. Cheapest model they sell. It will absolutely outlast this grill.

You will not be replacing burners over that 20-year period. The burners are warrantied for 10 years, but even after that they aren't going to rust. The Weber is very good at directing grease away from them. Other reasons to buy one or they are known to be more evenly heating than other grills, minimizing hot and cold spots over the grill. So while at this price point you might get a smaller Weber, you will have more useful grilling space.

Weber isn't the only good gas grill. I would just avoid Kenmore specifically. There are other good brands. Broil King and Napoleon being good examples. If you don't like premium brands, fine. Char-Broil I think is a much more quality brand at a mid-range price point.

There are certainly pros and cons.
A smaller Weber Spirit would never cut it for me. I can make use of all the grilling space on a Kenmore grill by rotating the food, so it is all "useful grilling space" to me.

I didn't realize the Weber's burner longevity. Thanks for that info.

Mine was delivered today. I'll post my thoughts after assembling. It does appear to have fairly good reviews on Amazon though. Although this specific model is only available at Walmart, an identical grill just without the smart interface and probes is for sale for around $425 on Amazon just now.

Regardless of your thoughts on how long this will last, it is a very solid deal. As outlined above the identical grill but with less features sells regularly on Amazon for over $400. Getting this for $297 is good to me.

I do need a new grill by end of season and this is tempting but I hate getting something like this delivered. I'd rather go to a store and make sure the box isn't damaged to hell.

It says next day delivery so it must be at a nearby store but it won't let me check nearby stores like it normally does for stuff
I got this and it was delivered Fed Ex in 2 days. Packaged well, and assembly was easy, took about an hour. Great grill cooks nice. Probes are a bonus and it has a tank sensor also

How are the sensors (temperature and tank) powered on this grill?
Does it need to be plugged to a port outlet or are the sensors battery operated?

Price shot back up. Didn't just go back to the $499, it's now listed at $599. That's what I get for waffling.

Mine showed up damaged unfortunately. However after a call and email to the Permasteel tech support center a new one shipped out to me yesterday at no cost. Hopefully it shows up this week without any issues.
