this is the best drop in upgrade for gaming pcs for those already on the am4 platform. i'd say it's not really worth the upgrade from a non-x3d zen3 (5600x, 5800x, etc), but definitely worth a consideration for pre-zen3. i also think it's not really worth it for new builds, as am5 platform is becoming more affordable and allows for future drop in upgrades.

yes, this cpu is definitely geared toward gaming. depending on your needs, zen4 (non-x3d) or intel may suit you better.

Where does one get one of these coupons? My 5600x is working fine but I can't pass up a good deal.

Wow I picked up the 5600x3d recently knowing it only trails the 5800x3d by 15% in gaming while costing $100 less but with this recent price drop I might have to pull the trigger on the 5800x3d

I have this CPU paired with a 6950xt

Best gaming upgrade in a while...I think it actually made me a better player in multiplayer FPS.

Everything is butter smooth and seems my reaction time is faster so kills are easier. I'm using a 165hz panel and with this combo, it easily maintains 165 fps so that might have something to do with it

To build on your comment, if someone purchases this, they're locked into the EOL AM4 motherboard. Any upgrade from this means new AM5 motherboard.

So if you want mega gaming deal on this processor and are fine with keeping it for a good while, this is a score. Its onboard cache is through the roof and makes games run awesome. But doesn't help with productivity situations. Doesn't hurt it either. Just makes games go go go

By the time the 5800x3D is considered "slow", the X3D CPU version of AM5 will be much more affordable.

I think I'll upgrade my 5800X3D when the 9000X3D, or when AM6 is out. The 5800X3D is a beast for gaming atm and works for me, no regrets (I built a new AM4 machine)

Sale happened last night around midnight.

I reserved one and wanted to make a post, but I had to go to bed. Glad someone else made the post!

I also got a 5600x3D bundle for my nephews pc.

I'm going to sell my 5900x and put in the 5800x3D.

My nephew will be going from a 5600g to 5600x3D and comes with new mobo and 16gb RAM for $300.

Total for the 5800x3D + 5600x3D bundle was just over $603 with CA tax included.

The 5600x3D with the mobo+ram bundle comes out to just $157 for that cpu.

Great deal for both of AM4's last performers. These top AM4 cpu's should last a good while. AM5 still seems to be working on bugs and there was no bundle for the 7800X3D, so I decided to stay with AM4's 3D chips the next few years.

Is it worth the extra $ for the 7800X3d?
