What's the point of using this if your laptop has a built in webcam?
Old laptops used to have crappy webcams. Difference is day and night.

Windows Hello needs a supplemental infrared camera. You're not seeing that in any USB webcam.
Thanks, but the Logitech Brio on my work PC has it, but it is at least twice this price, as is the Dell 4k webcam. Amazon has a couple more off-brand $60 Webcam with it. Once you use Windows Hello w a camera, you miss the convenience when going without it.

A lot of new laptops still have fairly crappy webcams too.

I own this and it's great quality. Just know that the field of view is wider than other webcams

I've been making do with the C910 I bought in 2011. This seems like a worthy upgrade.

A word of warning for Mac users. This line of Logitech webcams (920 etc) does not have hardware based feedback cancelling. Which means that the sound coming from the computer speakers doesn't get cancelled, and gets fed back in. The end result is that the other side cannot understand you at all if you are using a communication software that doesn't have in-built feedback cancellation algorithms. This is not a problem for software like Zoom or Skype as they do the noise cancellation at their end. But if you use FaceTime, this series of webcam won't work, since FaceTime relies on the webcam to do its own feedback suppression.m. If you want to use these with FaceTime, you'll need to use headphones so sound from external speakers don't get fed back into the mic.

Surprisingly the older Logitech c615 webcams don't have this problem. But the video quality of those is crappy. For Mac users I would recommend Anker webcams. Excellent video quality and a decent software to change settings. And of course, they don't have this problem.

I've used C920S Pro for a over a year on a M1 MBP with MS Teams and M1 Studio with Google Meet for almost 3x/weekly and never once had a problem.

Like I said, it's not a problem with software that has its own feedback suppression (like Skype, Teams, Zoom, Google Meet etc). But it is a problem with FaceTime. FaceTime pipes in the sound from external speakers back into the mic without any suppression on its end. If there is no hardware suppression on the webcam, the other side won't hear you (unless you use headphones).

The demand for webcams are going down since so many people are returning back to the office.
I just got a job where all 10K employees are remote. Bye

Kinda crazy to me that it's 2023 none of the major players have a 1080p 60fps camera under $90.

How time flies! These webcams used to be scalpers' favorites due to supply demand during THE LOCKDOWNS. It's now back to Earth, and I think the price can be lowered, no?

BTW, does anyone use a phone camera with an app for the same purpose?

I have used it. But honestly it was finnicky and I rather own a webcam. Same goes with converting a gopro
