But if you just want a tire inflator (not air pump for rafts, air mattresses etc) there are better choices now depending on what battery system you use. I don't like that roughly 1/2 the unit is for a feature I will probably never use. In other battery systems
The M18 inflator is similar size but heavier duty as a tire inflator. Costs more but often find promos with free battery. It's my new favorite.
I have not tried the M12 inflator.
The Ridgid small inflator is surprisingly good in a small format and for low cost if you have the battery system (around $60 at HD, but never seen with promo batteries as the batteries will be more than that.) Because it's small and I have the Ridgid system already, I usually carry that one in my truck, and a Ridgid light.
I would not bother with the small Ryobi handheld even at under $30 unless you want for just lawn equipment, ATVs etc.

Do you store them in the vehicles? How do the batteries hold up in the constant heat?

Good question. I plan to store mine in my house, (where I keep the Dewalt charger) and just use it when needed. I do keep a cheapie in my car trunk that I got off of Amazon a few years ago that just works off of the 12V plug. I live in fairly warm climate and was not sure either how the lithium batteries would hold up in the heat, but my flashlights that I keep in my car trunk with small lithium batteries (CR123) seem to do ok, with the batteries lasting years. I also am not sure at the cost of these batteries, whether I would want to tie one up all of the time for leaving it in the trunk. I may store it in my car trunk without a battery…….since it reportedly works very well off of the 12V cord/plug and may just bring a battery when I am planning to use the inflator.
