The person is complimenting the origin and authenticity of the sweet juicy Asian oranges. Or criticizing the plastic packaging that was made in China. All in how you interpret. 😂

I will not knowingly consume any food produced in China. Was just giving a heads up to anybody who feels the same.

unlike food produced in the USA where the FDA allows tons of chemicals banned in other countries, supermarkets only stock 'pretty' produce and refuse 'ugly' veg, throw away billions of tons of perfectly edible food and will prosecute you if you try and give it to the homeless/poor/hungry.

and all you are doing is helping the huge mega corps instead of local farmers

Good point. I'm not a huge fan of China, but I'm also not a huge fan of American corporations either. As a consumer, I have very little means other than "faith" to insure that anything I eat is not contaminated. I just have to assume that it's in Del Monte's best interest to make sure whatever supplier they use is following "best practices".

I once had an argument with my doctor because he found out I was getting an expensive prescription from another country. His point was you can't trust foreign drug companies. I countered with a comment about American pharmaceutical companies and their contribution to the opioid epidemic. That ended the discussion pretty quickly.

the ONLY thing in their best interest is to make the most profit possible, they will use the cheapest supplier possible.

most people are clueless. they will buy 'American' cars which are made in a factory in china and have no clue how world trade works or that 99% of stuff in the market is made abroad because its cheaper.

Can we just buy mandarin oranges from wherever the merchants are able to make the most money? This thread has turned crazy!

China … California… not much difference aside from the rampant crime in California.
