While these are reliable, dual hose units - the newer Midea Inverter based units are more efficient, quieter and move a whole lot more air.
Own both the Whynter ARC-14s in storage now as backups, as well as the 14k BTU Midea units, which have replaced the Whynters at our house.

It's hard to describe how much better the Midea units are - soft ramp up for the compressor, and running at fractional compressor capabilities to maintain room temperature - the inverter compressor control is fantastic. Additionally, the Mideas are wireless enabled - you can set schedules with the app, and control them remotely. The Wynters are just hard ON at 100% capacity or OFF - there is no middle ground with them, but they are fine units - just older, less efficient technology.

I have one of those refurbished Toshiba and haven't had a problem with the ac. The Toshiba is quieter than this one and cools down my living room pretty quickly. I don't think this is a inverter compare toToshiba which can save you money in the long run.

The Toshiba/rebranded Midea refurbished inverter one on woot that everyone is talking about is actually dual hose even though it looks like a single. It's a hose inside another much bigger hose so it's still two airstreams. So I'd believe it if the efficiency is just as good or better than this Whynter. That and the heating and wifi integration on the Toshiba work pretty nicely.

I bought this 3 yrs ago and it's still running strong. It gets cold. Very gd deal here as I paid $650 for mine.

Amazon told me no price adjustment on this. But thery recommended I "request" (normal process for cancellation) to cancel the first purchase, then re-buy it at the new price. I did. Took seconds to receive email confirmation of my completed refund. Bought again. Got the new price. What a deal.

I bought in July 2020 from HD and it's not cooling this season. We use just for 3-4 months during summer. Also more noisy compared to newer ones and less energy efficient.

I would try either chat or a different phone rep. The first one I got was incompetent and kept blabbing on about it being a Prime only price (it isn't). Odds are you will be successful on your second try.

this thing is a beast. i've had it for over 9 years now and still cooling strong. it is quite loud though. one thing that bothers me is that the unit blows almost directly upwards so if you need it to point in a certain direction, it is challenging. also, it is on the larger end of portable ACs so be sure you measure the space properly and insulate well or you will feel the hot air.
