From the O Wise and All-Knowing Internet - "Hydrogen peroxide used to be a popular antiseptic for cleaning wounds and treating acne. But it's not a good idea to use it for those purposes, since it can irritate your skin. If you don't want to throw away your brown bottles, you can use hydrogen peroxide to clean and disinfect around the house." Also, you may wanna wait to use WAG30 for a bigger purchase.

For wounds can cause scarring. It is what the dentist/ortho recommended for retainer cleaning soak for the kids' thingies though.

Yeah, don't use this on wounds if you have a choice. It will dissolve your new cells and platelets. Maybe once immediately after injury but never later. I have some lovely scars because I didn't know this.

Isn't Hydrogen Peroxide caused the Kursk submarine explode in torpedo tube?

LOL....medical advice from the internet. Imagine the logic of not preventing life ending / altering infections because of the tiny possibility of being a mild skin "irritant."

You have scars because of the wound, H.P. could have made matters worse though. An extremely important distinction. More important question, did you get an infection?

But yes, there are better antiseptics. Just not at 75 cents, as easily available, or simple to use. And the tiny possibility of scars or red skin is a far better alterative than a major infection. But I, nor medical institutions get our information from Jenny McCarthy or reddit so take that with a grain of salt....

Diluted? Nah. Its only 3% and works great straight. Just dont try to keep your mouth shut or your head might explode.

HP is awesome stuff for so many things other than just medical!

PSA: Reminder that unlike Grandma did, hydrogen peroxide is NOT to be placed on wounds. It does more harm than good.

Is that the same grandma who survived the polo vaccine, didn't die of infection because they cared for their wounds, and managed the 1% chance of horrible hydrogen peroxide momentary and mild skin irritation? Or are you talking about dad's grandma who didn't do any of that and died in an iron lung Wink

Agreed! I also use it for cleaning and it does wonderful on windows, no steaking. Gets stains out in the laundry, I have one with a spray attached to the bottle under every sink. Also on sale is the 91%alcohol.
