If you prefer the rice that is not sticky, more fluffy than jasmine rice, more tasty than regular long grain, it's worth a try. Great for stir fry rice. But if you prefer something like sushi rice, then this is very different.
I personally each both sushi rice, jasmine and also basmati regularly. All has its distinct characteristics. But I don't like brown rice.
And btw, If you have diabetes, basmati rice is a good option among white rice varieties.
Parboiled can be a good option too—most of the nutrients of brown, tastes much more like white. Typically a little pricier though.

I'm getting 20 lbs bag that has the stamp - 25 years America's #1 Basmati from BJs for $19.99. Amazon's item doesn't have this stamp. So, maybe not genuine, just like the perfumes and colognes it sells.

The basmati rice from BJ seems to be authentic with the smell, taste and non-stickiness.

I am eating basmati rice for more than 40 years, and this does not smell or taste like real basmati rice, may I be getting old, or this rice is not really basmati rice? BTW, not sure if you get 1lb/$1 USD real and authentic basmati rice in US....not sure. Do your own DD Wink
That's mostly because it's new rice.

Bought it from Costco and Amazon. It is the same.
Just fine for our taste buds and definitely not sticky.

Not a deal. Amazon tricks every single time by jacking up the price and then giving discount. People fell for it every time.

I regularly buy 20lb from Sam's club for around $20.

It has been at this price for a year. Is it a slick deal?
When in doubt, look at the poster. If staff, I pass. Else, likely legit so I research a bit before purchasing.

This is fake news. India banned export of the popular "Sona Masoori" variety only. Basmati was never banned.

Costco has 20 lbs for 19.69. With many Basmati rice tried, I prefer Sona Masoori for day to day use.

I second this. Parboiled rice is also marketed as "rice for the diabetic". This is what we use daily. Closer to white rice taste and closer to brown rice in terms of nutrients.

Delivery date mid September (at least in my case). I suppose I don't need to save a couple of bucks that bad.

100% correct. I bought a big bag of this rice a while back and was struck by how bland and inauthentic it was. I got a bag of real basmati from a hindu grocery that smelled kinda like buttered popcorn when cooking. This royal stuff....might as well be white rice. Basmati in name only. None of the smell or taste. Am currently eating this now and then to get rid of it.
